I want to like this mug -- it's really tough, fits in the bottle cage on my bike, but it doesn't keep coffee warm AT ALL. Only a 15 minute ride to work, and by the time I get settled in my office, my coffee's always just barely lukewarm. Sure I can throw it in the microwave, but most days I grab my thermos instead.

This is a great mug, I searched for a long time to find one that's dishwasher safe and has a snug lid thats easy to open and won't leak - this has it.

I got this for my wife as a stocking stuffer, its now February and the ink that the REI logo is printed with has started to smear and gets all over your hands, ( and now my keyboard too!) The mug is made by aladdin and you can find exact same thing with no printing on it for less. I'd definitely recommend the mug, just not the one that REI sells.

This is a really easy-to-use tumbler which is spill-proof (huge plus for me). It does not keep drinks hot, however, even if you preheat it with boiling water. An hour is probably the upper limit, after that you're drinking slightly warm coffee/tea (this has been the case in 45-50-degree temps). A double-walled insulated Thermos I own, on the other hand, keeps drinks boiling hot for over 12 hours.

Bottom line - this tumbler is great for what I use it for - drinking coffee in the car on the way to or first thing at work in the morning. If I wanted my drinks to stay much hotter or hot longer, I'd look for something else.

One of the reviewers mentioned that "Do not microwave" is stamped on the bottom of the tumbler - that's not entirely true. It says "Do not microwave empty".

This mug is great for travel and camping. It keeps drinks hot for a long time and it seals nicely. It's also pretty durable, I dropped it on rocks and threw it around and it was fine!

It is a tad heavy, but it makes up for the weight with how well it insulates.

Why I really like these mugs: this mug has been knocked over many times at work and not leaked once. Your drink can be reheated in the microwave (not small ones, the mug is tall). Has been through the dishwasher many times, even in the bottom rack. So it's not the most beautiful mug I've ever owned -- it is very functional. Take heed of the complaints of others though, it will not hold heat for very long, so if you are using it away from a microwave, or prefer not to nuke, your drink will cool off fairly quickly. Also, it does hold odors, particularly from coffee. I only wish it would come in more colors!

I often use this either while traveling or at work. Its nice because it looks great and is comfortable in the hands and if outside in the cold the heat kinda warms your hands. the down side is that is does not hold the heat very well so if your a slow coffee drinker like I am your coffee will get cold and im not sure if you can microwave this product.

My wife and I each purchased one of these. For the most part, we're fond of them. I use mine at work daily, and... well... actually, I'm not sure how often my wife uses hers.

These cups keep their contents warm for quite a while. I've even been able to put hot chocolate mix in and--with the lid screwed on tightly and the flip tab closed--shake it without spilling or having anything dribble out.

I'm also really a fan of REI's recent graphics trend... I love the ground-and-trees graphic.

But I guess it's because I'm fond of the graphic that I'm so disappointed in the poor image quality. I have only ever hand-washed these cups, never used a dishwasher, but the water breaks down the black (ink?) that's used to print the graphics on the outside. As a result, it flakes off and even smears. Also, when the contents of the cup are hot, it feels as though the black printing gets sticky or tacky. I really try not to even touch it, but you can see the results--and it's only seen a few weeks of use. My wife's cup is showing the same issue, though since I think she uses it a lot less, the graphics aren't as noticeably faded.

Additionally, I've noticed the tendency for the cup to absorb the odors of its contents. Maybe this is just because it's plastic and not ceramic or metal--I've never had a plastic cup like this. But hot water and dish soap don't get rid of it. I've only been using the cup for hot green tea and cold water for the past week, but it still smells like coffee from the week before. (Well, that and now green tea, too.)

Sure, it's just a cup. And though I'll continue using it until it doesn't do me any good anymore, I still can't help but be disappointed.

This is a great mug for a very reasonable price. Keeps my coffee warm long enough, perfect size. My only gripe is that it doesn't fit under a Keurig, even with the base removed, I have to hold it under there at an angle. I didn't take off any stars for that though. But with Keurig coffee makers being so popular, it seems like a bit of an oversight.

I only own one travel mug, and i reuse it daily until i lose it or it otherwise becomes unusable. I've had this REI mug for months and will go out of my way to retrieve it if I've left it somewhere.
The twist top and snap spout help me toss it in my bag with some coffee still inside without worrying about it spilling. The mug keeps my beverages warm for over an hour in the car, more than enough time to enjoy them.
In short, this one's a keeper.

I had a very dear travel mug i've had for years, but it was made from PC (likely had BPA). So i was looking for a great replacement, & after much searching (i'm picky) this was it, i was looking for a PP one (i looked all all the other plastic types & decided PP would be a good choice). I have to say i'm very happy w/ my choice, the flip lid is what i had on my older travel mug & loved it as it was durable & reliable & never leaked on me. The lid construction is similar screw type w/ o-ring at top, which creates a very good reliable seal. I'm also happy to find that this is mfg'd by aladdin, the very famous thermos maker too, so i feel comfortable in its design & build quality. It is a bit big for some car cup holders, & the 16oz one, though my choice compared to the 12oz version, is also quite tall for when it sits in my cup holder in my Saturn. For those other reviewer that use theirs in the microwave, it clear states on the bottom of the product (molded in) 'Do Not Microwave', so please, don't. I love its simple design lines, it is easy to clean & will be durable over time, ones w/ rubber grip zones, just have little nooks for dirt & grime to hide, this is very clean lined & i really appreciate it. I do wish the inner diameter were a bit larger to get my hand in to clean the bottom, but there are brushes for that. Also i gave it a 4/5 as i feel there are very very few 'perfect' items, but i'm just a hard grader, i would just want to convey that this is an excellent mug that i'm very happy with & i think many people would be too.
