Comments about REI Siesta +20 Sleeping Bag:

    More like 4.5 stars.

I bought two of these so that my partner and I can zip them together into a double sleeping bag.

    Pros:
--> the fleece-y material on the inside. OMG, soo comfy! We were debating between this REI Siesta +20 (fleece-y) with the +35 model (not fleece-y) in the store, and this one is the way to go if you don't like the initial cold when getting into a sleeping bag, are not concerned with weight, and like to camp/sleep in comfort.
--> roomy. Plenty of room to move around and turn.
--> warm. We took these puppies out in late December, avg night temp in the low 30's, and these were perfect (granted, they're rated for +20).
--> easy to pack. The sack that comes with this is thankfully oversized, so you can haphazardly roll this thing up and start shoving it in, and it'll pack down easily.

    cons (minimal):
--> zipper snags sometimes. Hard to get it going and it catches once in awhile.
--> loose drawstrings kept falling on my face. I imagine this is only an issue when the bag is used in a double formation, since the top sleeping bag is now rotated. Hard to explain, you'll see.

Overall, a great bag for the price, very glad we purchased these!

Comments about REI Siesta +20 Sleeping Bag:

I took this camping last weekend for the first time. It was probably in the mid 30s at night - not quite freezing. I was bit cold at night, by my camping mates didnt get a wink of sleep because they were too cold. I liked sleeping in this bag, but it was a huge hassle to pack. We could barely fit it in with all of our other gear. In the stuff sack, it's about 1.5' in diameter and almost 2' long. I plan to try to get a smaller stuff sack before trying to return it, but it's really only useful for camping if you're close to your car - it'd be a huge inconvinence if you're hiking to your site.

Comments about REI Siesta +20 Sleeping Bag:

Let me start off by saying I'm not a huge fan of mummy bags...they are like straight jackets for your whole body. This modified version is perfect for me! Didn't feel too tight anywhere. It also has a nice amount of loft which makes it pretty comfortable. I used it the night I bought it. The temp dropped into the 30s and this kept me just the right amount of warm. My feet get cold a lot especially when camping...I slept without socks that night and they stayed nice and warm. The rest of me usually feels like it's on fire, but this sleeping bag distributed the heat evenly so I didn't sweat my butt off. I'm super happy with my purchase. The only thing I would warn about is the length. Pretty sure it only comes in long which is fine for me because I'm tall, but I suspect anyone under 5'5" might drown.

Comments about REI Siesta +20 Sleeping Bag:

We paired this up with the Siesta 35 so that on warm days we can put the 35 on top and cold day put the 20. Works great and super comfortable for two. We used these all summer car camping or just sleeping in the jeep before an early morning start. Great for what they are made for. Soft, roomy, durable are the selling points for me.
The open top really does not cinch down and so lets out the warmth, but if you need that then get a mummy bag.
