I'm 5'1, 108 lbs, 34-23-35, athletic body type and this petite pants size 4 fit me perfectly without any hemming work. There is a little extra space in the waist but I prefer it that way since I like my pants comfortable and able to accommodate the expansion of my stomach after I eat.

Though they are said to be petite, I still found them to be about 1.5 inches too long. Also, I usually wear and 8-10P, but to be comfortable for hiking or other "range of motion" activities, I felt more comfortable in the 12P. The waist runs big, but there is a drawstring ribbon inside to adjust the fit.
Other than the small notes above, these are very comfortable. Lightweight, but tough. Perfect for hiking in 3 season weather (probably not warm enough for winter hiking)

I work in the education department at a botanical garden, where I garden, teach, and do a little field research. It's really important that my work-wear is comfortable and allows for a full range of motion, yet still looks professional. Also, I live in a really hot, really humid climate, so my clothes need to breathe. I bought a pair of these pants in each color and they are PERFECT.
I'm only 5'1", but have wide hips - buying pants has always been a chore. They're generally far too long; I was stoked to see that REI even offered a petite option, and was even more stoked to find that they actually fit. Sometimes petite sizes can be cut too small!
I bought the charcoal pants first, then, when I realized how perfect they fit, I bought the khaki pair...although I was a little nervous at first. Sometimes khaki can be so light that it reveals to the world the color underwear your wearing. I've had that problem with comparable high-end convertible pants before! However, the khaki in person is much darker than it looks on the website - which is a good thing. No one knows what my underwear looks like except for me!
Two other things I like: (1) the pants aren't too high-waisted; I don't feel dorky in them. (2) The capri-length when the leg is zipped off is kinda cool. It's a good length for work - let's me feel like I'm in a short, without actually having to show off too much leg!

I recently lost 30 lbs and was headed on a trip to a warm climate and nothing fit! Being 5'1" it's tuff to find pants in petite but I stumbled onto these and they fit well; however I had to hem them about 1 1/2" so they do run long. I love the 2 secure gusseted zippered cargo pockets with flaps on each leg that easily holds a passport in one and money in the other, no need for a purse! The flat front zipper pockets are perfect for small stuff too and are very flattering. There is a bit of stretch to these, altho I would like to see a bit more to be more comfortable sitting on a plane all day. The gussets were great for hiking thru jungles and climbing tall Mayan ruins, they were never too tight. They were very cool even in 100 degree temps and the SPF worked! I love how they color coded the zippers on the convertible pants so it's easy to zip them together again. I have a small waist so the inside draw string is a nice feature since these pants were a bit big for me in the waist. Since loosing the weight I really don't know what size I am, but based on a few other pants I've purchased elsewhere they are the same size as these pants so I would say they run true to size. I'm thinking of getting another pair in another color!

Super lightweight, great style and fit. These seem to be shorter than some of the other petites, Im 5'2" and they are maybe .5" too long. I was thinking the length as shorts might hit in the wrong place and look odd, but theyre perfect as shorts too (more capri length.

I enjoyed wearing this pants during my hiking trips as it's most comfortable than other pants. It allows body movement so I never feel any tightness and it breaths through. I recommend wearing this pair of pants during warm climate only, and I love how I can zip off the bottom sections so I could wear them as shorts when the temperature rises during the hike. I'd wear these pants over and over again.

Bought these recently when they were on sale at REI. Tried a lot of other styles, REI and other brands, and these were the best fit for me, though the size 14 petite/short is still approx. an inch too long for me (I'm 5'4"). At first I wasn't crazy about the feel of the fabric -- it seemed a bit itchy to me -- but I either got used to it fast or they got softer somehow. Anyway, I took them camping and wore them constantly for 5 days and I was comfortable and felt great in them the whole time, and when I got home, after doing the laundry, they were the first thing I wanted to wear. They feel sturdy but lightweight. They dry very fast. I thought they might be hot, but I was very comfortable in them at 85F and at 50F. I never wore them as capris, but I did check to see that they are easy to zip back together. The coal color is very versatile and attractive -- to my eye it has a bit more green to it than the picture shows -- it is not just a gray or grayish black as the name would suggest. Goes with anything and practical for travel and camping. Glad I got them at the sale price, wouldn't have bought them for full price, but now that I know how great these pants are, I would pay full price for another pair. It's hard for me to find pants that fit and that look good, and though these aren't a perfect fit for me, they are more than good enough, and I think they look good, too. They seem well made and rugged. Thanks to REI for such a good product.

I bought these pants in both tan & dark gray. I love them! Very comfortable. They do not run big, so if you fall between 2 sizes (or your current size is snug), go up a size. I wear sizes 2-4 so I went with a 4. They have just enough stretch to go over my curves without being too big in the waist. The material is high quality and they look good in pictures too!
