Comments about REI Rendezvous Convertible Pants - Women's:
I have been on the hunt for a great pair of flattering convertible pants for hiking/camping. I tried on every brand at the store..REI, Columbia, North Face, Mountain Hardware, etc. This pair of pants has the best qualities of all of them.
I am 5'8", 140lbs, curvy build. I have a narrow waist and a larger bottom, and these were the first to fit in both my waist and hips/thighs. The cargo pockets are very close to the body and flattering, the waist is the perfect rise, and the fabric is lightweight and breathable without being flimsy at all. I also liked the Mountain Hardware Yuma, but the fabric was MUCH thicker. I like that these zip off to a capri, and not shorts (I don't like the zipper being mid-thigh..promotes rubbing & chafing on hikes).
If you are buying online and considering North Face, I feel that it is better suited for more apple-shaped or athletic shaped bodies. For me, the 8 fit great in the waist, but was was too tight in the hips/thighs.
The only downside I see about these pants is that they are pretty long, but they do come in petite. The ankles don't cinch, so they could be hemmed easily. Overall great pants!

Comments about REI Rendezvous Convertible Pants - Women's:
I bought these pants as a replacement for a similar pair from North Face. These are definitely lightweight, which has its benefits, but I really find this fabric uncomfortable and itchy. The fabric is so light that the waistband tends to droop and fold over unless you are wearing a belt to hold it flat against you. The cut is baggy in the hips, tapers toward the knee where the legs zip off, and therefore looks less flattering than a true straight leg when these are worn as a capri.

Comments about REI Rendezvous Convertible Pants - Women's:
These are my favorite hiking/travel pants! I usually think zipoffs look awful but these just look like normal-fitting pants. I've worn them out to dinner and out to do fieldwork in rainforests and everything in between. The pockets are plentiful and roomy, and I don't find them very noticeable when they're empty. The material feels a little different, but they really wick water well and are very comfortable. My only small complaint is that the belt loops are narrow, and potentially unnecessary since there's already an internal drawstring. Also, this may just be my proportions but the picture makes it look like they zipoff just below the knee, whereas mine definitely hit mid-calf.

I bought these for a trip to Honduras. I wanted to be covered head to toe to avoid mosquito bites. It was very humid there, so the fabric weight was perfect. They were very comfortable throughout. The inside tie on the waistband helped with the fit. I tried at least 7 other pants before finding these; it was hard to find the right fit in both the waist and hips until I found these. The zip pockets were also handy.

I work for an outdoor education organization in Honduras and needed some good (and reasonably-priced) pants to protect me from the many thorns, prickles, bugs, etc. that abound here. These pants have stood up to abuse while hiking, sea kayaking, rappelling, climbing and sliding through jungles, river hikes, and thorny dry forest. I find them very comfortable and cute with soft, quick-drying material and they have lots of pockets! On top of that, they're breathable and once I zip off the legs, I'm all set even in the tropical heat. My only recommendation would be to place the front hand pockets as an angle and with a bit of material around the zipper to reduce abrasion. Overall a great buy, would buy them again!

I needed a pair of convertibles for an upcoming trip and chose these. I don't love them but they will do. The fabric feels flimsy. I don't consider myself a petite, however the petites fit me better than the regular. I have a well, um endowed back side so I was surprised about that.

Every time I wear these I get complimented on how great they look on me. I wear to work, home, traveling, hiking and everywhere else because they are soooo comfortable and functional with cargo pockets and zip-off legs.
The material is light and breathable and dries quickly. I can pull them out of my suitcase in a wrinkly wad and after wearing them for a few minutes the wrinkles disappear.
I love the internal drawstring since belts add bulk in the tummy area, but the belt loops are there if you need them.
I'm almost 5'9" and often have to let out the hem on pants for a comfortable length but these are perfect for me. For shorter ladies, they'd be easy to hem up.
I own one in each color and if they had more colors I'd buy more.

I *JUST* picked these up today, so I can't comment much on the durability (although the fabric feels really durable) or how they hold up after a day of hiking...however, the fit is off. I ordered a size 8 (generally wear a 6 or an 8 depending), and the legs are tight and the waist is BIG. The inside tie doesn't really do much to make up for this because it's 1) inside and 2) it's just a piece of tie line holding up your pants. The legs are snug--not uncomfortable, but definitely opposite of the waist.
I bought these to replace a pair of hiking pants I have and hopefully also use for climbing. Hiking, these would be great. They are a great length, stretchy, and they honestly don't look half bad (not the typical bag look I get with hiking pants).
For climbing, though, the zipper for the capri part is just below my knees so hits and gets caught on my knee. They are stretchy and durable enough I'd trust them climbing, but I think the zipper will keep them from moving with me.
My only concern is that the waist is too big. I don't want them falling off half-way through a hike...and because of the leg size, ordering a size down just doesn't seem possible.
I'll probably be returning them...

I bought these pants for a 10-day, 100 mile hiking tour in Israel a few years ago and LOVED them! The fit, the zip-off-to-capri length, the feel on a 100+ degree day in the Middle East...they were my favorite thing to wear. And CUTE too! On another trip a couple of years later I busted them out again and a guy friend told me: "In Israel, lots of people had different kinds of zip-off pants that were just kinda ehhh...but THOSE pants make you look good!" Definitely glad I shelled out the money for these, DEFINITELY would do it again!
