Comments about REI Endeavor Hiking Pants - Men's 32" Inseam:
These pants are fantastic. They seem durable after a couple of months' use. The gussets that run down the legs leave a seam across the inside of your quadriceps, but it isn't a big enough deal to make me worry about it. The bungees at the cuffs allow you to tighten them around your boots to keep mud, muck, bugs, and other stuff away from your ankles. They're warm enough that I've hiked in them without long underwear in the low 30's, but breathable enough that I've worn them in the high 60's without feeling like a total mess. Water will bead up on them for a while, but they will eventually wet out. On a recent rainy hike up Little Si, I didn't feel any moisture seeping through until I was halfway back down the mountain. That's over an hour of dry legs, which is more than you should probably expect from a pair of "water resistant" pants.
That being said, these pants have 3 pockets on the right side (hip, butt, and hand) and only one on the left (hand). Lefties may find this annoying; the lack of a left butt pocket especially annoys me. If these pants were a bit more symmetrical in their pocketry, I'd give them a 5 star review.
It's probably also worth mentioning that I had to get a 32 length in these pants, when a 30 length fits me in almost everything else.

Comments about REI Endeavor Hiking Pants - Men's 32" Inseam:
I purchased these pants for my Olympic mountain trip. Not knowing anything about the pants. I thought i would try them out. For 2 weeks on the trail and having only these pants to wear. They held up very well. with rain forest conditions. They are certainly water resistent. They also dry fast and clean up well. As for comfort. The pants are very comfortable. these pants made it much easier for me to climb over massive downed trees. What it does lac in is pockets. There is a pocket on the right leg. But also should have one on my left as well. the pants could also use other pocket on the butt on the left as well. The other problem is the pants sizes. I'm a 32 but had to try on a smaller pair because the larger size waist was to big. The smaller size was too tight in the legs and didn't allow enough room for my under armor long johns. It's was like wearing a skinny jeans. No thanks. for i bought L32L. they are bigger in the waist but fit good on the legs. Other than those issues the pants are great.

Comments about REI Endeavor Hiking Pants - Men's 32" Inseam:
I was fed up with the parachute fit of my hiking pants and wanted something trim that moved with me that I could use for a backpacking trip that also included time in the city. These were perfect: fit is great for my 30-31 waist; stretch material is similar to Prana, which I love. Very svelt. They look and feel good both in town and on trail. And REI, please ignore those who want more pockets: part of the good feel comes from not too many pockets, especially eliminating the one on the right rear. There is plenty of storage. Does anyone besides me every get frustrated with pants that have so many pockets that you lose stuff in them??!

Comments about REI Endeavor Hiking Pants - Men's 32" Inseam:
Finally I've found the ideal pair of pants that is capable of performing in the rugged wilderness as well as work as a pair of casual pants in the big cities. I'm 6'2" + 165 lbs. with a real wiry frame and I find size medium is ideal. This pair of pants fits like a glove and has an elastic feel to all the joints so as to not constrain flexibility in any of my movements, which is especially important to me while climbing. The material is very tear resistant. I've spent days sliding over every sort of jagged rock climbing all over the western United States and the pants don't even look like they've been worn once. I'm going to buy another pair of these as soon as the Coal color is back in stock.

Comments about REI Endeavor Hiking Pants - Men's 32" Inseam:
I purchased this product for the dual duty of recreation and travel use.
They appeared to be exactly what I was looking for - sleek, classy and very functional.
I did not try them on in the store first.
Upon trying them on home I was impressed with their wieght and flexibility.
Unfortunately that is not enough to keep this generation of the model. Beside the scant pocket offerings the construction of this pant is not designed for men.
The fit is poor in the front (crotch) and back (buttocks). The thin fabric is too tight and outlines the parts of men that should not be visible and is not at all flattering from the back.
While this may be "okay" for the lone person on the trail- it would not at all be appropriate for a group trail trek, or an evening at a restaurant while traveling.
I am confident that REI can fix this - and they should.
Until then I will return them and wait.
The Endeavor could be the standard - at present they come close, but miss the mark.

Comments about REI Endeavor Hiking Pants - Men's 32" Inseam:
Nice concept, but REI could have done better in field-testing the fabric. I found the fabric to lack comfort and breathability in warmer weather (85F+)
It does well in moderate temps and dries fast. One other wish is that the fabric still felt heavy even though it was very packable.
I eventually returned it and am shopping for alternative hiking pants.

Comments about REI Endeavor Hiking Pants - Men's 32" Inseam:
I used these to climb Mt. Timp in 50-60 Degree weather in 30 mph wind. These pants performed great overall, and it's a great value. Many other outdoor pants that would fall into this category tend to be a lot pricier.
What I love about these pants is the fact that they are very, very flexible. There was not one time while hiking and climbing over rocks and such that the pants slowed me down due to my motion being restricted. These pants are basically like a second "skin" for your legs. Very comfortable too, I could walk around the house with these and be completely comfortable.
I actually pretty pleased at how water resistant they are. I wasn't jumping through rivers or anything but handled splashes from rivers well as well as walking through fields with condensation. But just remember that these are not water proof. However if you do happen to get wet these dry at a very fast rate so it's not a big deal.
Very breathable as well. I don't recall becoming too hot or sweaty at any point. Very well made. However, this could be one of it's downfalls too and probably my only complaint about these pants. They read that they are wind resistant up to 30 mph winds and I can reassure that they are not. While hiking I did not notice the problem because I was putting off a lot of heat but as soon as we stopped on the side of the mountain and sat for 2 hours I definitely felt wind coming through. The little gusts here and there would seep right through the material. It was a good thing I had a space blanket with me or else my legs would have frozen. These are definitely not the type of pants that you would want to wear in temperatures below 50 degrees without some sort of warm base layer, and even then I'm not sure how well they will do.
I worked these pants as hard as I could looking for chances to perhaps find an Achilles heel. I slid down rocks, damp/muddy terrain, Ice, and gravel trying to see if I could rip some of the stitching. But I couldn't manage to find any tears anywhere or even sign of abuse/wear on them. They clean up very well too, the dirt almost seemed to brush by itself along with the mud.
Overall all I can say about these pants is that they are MADE to last. I can see myself wearing these for a few years and not expect very much wear to be visible. I feel very confident in these pants and trust that they will not give out on me while out on the trail.

Comments about REI Endeavor Hiking Pants - Men's 32" Inseam:
I agree with the other comments posted here about the good quality of the fabric and pant design AND the poor pocket design. They really do need 3 pockets on each side. Also, the pockets should be larger. The back pockets should be much larger, big enough for a retractable dog leash or other large object. The one good thing about the pockets is that the edges of the upper front pockets do not drop down. The edges are closer to horizontal (like jeans), which keeps things from falling out of the pockets. Why do so many "travel" or "trail" pants have pockets that open down the side seam so that the pockets are easy to pick and tend to dump the contents? At least this aspect of the pocket design is good. I'll wait 'til next season to buy them in coal in hopes that they redesign the pockets.

Comments about REI Endeavor Hiking Pants - Men's 32" Inseam:
Used these pants for the first time today, and not wild to use them again. The fabric seems fine; my beef is with the construction. Due to the gore of extra fabric in the inseam, there's an extra seam that rubs against the inside of the front of my knee with each step I take. Moreover, the seam isn't flat felled, which is probably why the seam is so noticeable during walking. Against bare skin the result is chafing with each step. Fortunately, I didn't have far to go today. I'll save the pants for cold windy days, especially ones where I have long underwear on to protect against the chafing, but won't use them for hikes of any distance otherwise. A sad thing to say about an [$] pair of pants designed specifically for hiking. For that price, you should get comfort as well as durability.

Tried these pants on in the dressing room at REI and loved them. However, when I got home and wore them around my house for about 30 seconds, I quickly felt the weird seam chafing the inside of my right and left Knees. Too bad. Wanted to love these pants, but they would drive me nuts on a hike!
