Comments about Cordillera Thermalpeak Insulated Jacket - Men's - Special Buy:
I ordered this from the Outlet with a web sale coupon for a great price, almost half the price of the other brands. For what it is, it works really well. Very soft, smooth, slippery shell/lining slides on great over other layers or under a shell. The outside ripstop is fairly light, so beware of snags on sharp objects-it probably won't hold up too well if you wear a pack over it a lot or expose it to a lot of abrasion or sharp objects without a shell over it. It's cut a little long, so you get good coverage, or you can shorten it up using the drawstring elastic in the hem. This jacket includes a soft fleece lining inside the collar and pockets, zippers on the handwarmer pockets, snug elastic at the cuffs, and no extra frills. The front, one-way zipper pulls very smoothly and has a heavier backing sewn in to prevent snags. This is more of a sweater-weight jacket, with thinner insulation than the other brands, so you might want to use it under a shell in windy, cold conditions. But, it is lighter than the others, packs up very small and fits really well under another shell, so you get the choice of using it with different combinations of layers under and over it. This is a versatile, lightweight, synthetic insulated jacket that's a very good value at the discounted sale price. It's outer ripstop won't be as durable as some of the others out there, but it's still a bargain. It compresses easily into a small stuff sack for my pack or carry-on luggage.

Comments about Cordillera Thermalpeak Insulated Jacket - Men's - Special Buy:
Got this in the mail the other day. I have no issues with the thinness of the material used as others have mentioned. I think it is durable enough to wear with a pack and is the same thickness as my MH Phantom 32 bag. I am 5'7" and 145 lbs. athletic and I mostly love the fit as I have trouble finding a small that doesn't fit too tight around the lats or too loose around the waist (When I tried on the MH small synthetic jackets, it felt like I was going to blow out the seams near the armpit, but the waist of the medium was way too loose). The fit for me is loose enough to wear a baselayer and wool sweater underneath but not too baggy to retain warmth with just a baselayer. As I mentioned in cons, I think the neck opening is too big and will likely leak heat in that area. I cant imagine anyone else who fills this jacket out the same way I do would have that much bigger of a neck. This jacket is definitely neck gator and hood (thin) friendly. The other thing you should think of with the collar sizing is how well it will fit inside your rainshell collar without bunching up. The jacket is about 1.5" longer at the waist than normal (I included a photo showing length comparison to my small Red Ledge rain shell. Oh and I should have paid attention to the review that says web site red is true to color, because this thing is basically pink/magenta. I will NOT be wearing this downtown. In summary, if your part of the 85% who control 15% of the wealth and you need a lightweight, synthetic jacket...this is your winner!

Comments about Cordillera Thermalpeak Insulated Jacket - Men's - Special Buy:
This is a well designed jacket, and I absolutely recommend it to others. The two caveats are: 1) the material is thin (I knew this when I bought the jacket) and 2) the coat is a little long (I'm 6'1", 160lbs and the medium fits me well). I don't think that this coat would hold up well with a heavy backpack on, and you certainly want to avoid rubbing it up against stuff. However, I give it five stars because it is extremely light and warm - perfect for my intended uses of sitting around in camp and walking through downtown Denver on chilly days!

Comments about Cordillera Thermalpeak Insulated Jacket - Men's - Special Buy:
I am 5'5, and this jacket is long for me. The jacket is lightweight, and very comfortable. Didn't wear it in the cold so don't know how warm it is.
I ordered a Black, and I couldn't get over how shiny it is. It's going back to REI.

Comments about Cordillera Thermalpeak Insulated Jacket - Men's - Special Buy:
Great jacket, very warm and so it does well just being my go-to-jacket in the colder weather. Only gripe is the cuffs are really tight - I mean I think I have small wrists but the cuffs fit very snugly! Fortunately, that is my only reason for the 4 stars.
And for the record, I'm 5'9 and 155lbs and the medium fit nicely, just be aware it's a little on the long side. And also, the red shown on REI's site is true to the color.
