Comments about Cordillera Aiguille 800 Down Sweater - Men's - Special Buy:
This is my first online clothing purchase from something I didn't try on first. The price was just right. The outside material makes it perfect for a mid layer or a slip on on top of the mountain. I have a huge expedition down coat that I call 'big blue' and it was just too warm for 5 degrees walking around in Anchorage. And I couldn't fit it in my backpack for climbing on the weekends. This is the ticket! No more bulky fleece. This fits perfectly on me. I'm 6'3" but skinny. Long torso and longer arms. This is longer than the patagonia sweater and fits just as nicely. The color is accurate from the picture above and doesn't look like a shiny blue wearable trash bag. The collar is lined with fleece which most of the others don't. Tall collar for my long neck. It was 5 degrees today and super windy and my core was perfectly warm. [...] this is a great deal.Matt

Ordered Black size S online and picked up the product from REI store. The jacket is lightweight and comfortable, but does not look like the picture on the website. The picture online has a nice shine like a high end down jacket, but the product received did not shine as I had expected. The jacket has more of a blue tone than it is black. The online picture has an imprint logo on left breast without a patch, and the product received has a patch logo on the left breast. The online picture shows design that has square grids, and the product received has a horizontal layout with no square grids.

Very light and warm down sweater. Everything I wanted as a middle layer to backpack during colder weather. Just thought I would mention this since wasn't mentioned anywhere, but it folds into one of the pockets (You'll notice one of the pockets have a 2 sided zipper.)

This was to be a replacement for my Sierra Designs synthetic that I wore out and my OR Trans Down sweater that I also wore out. The good about it is that it is well made, good materials, plenty of insulation. The bad about it is that the cut is very narrow around the chest and under the arms. I got a med and I can not extend my arms straight in front of me let alone above me, so there is no way a guy could climb in this, or even reach out to pick up something. I am 5'11" and 160 lbs. I should also add that the shoulders seem very flat across from shoulder to shoulder so that it kind of puckers up above the shoulders. My buddy has this same jacket in size L and that is way to big so I know I have the right size. To bad, at this price I was totally stoked, looks like I'll be returning it and saving up for something else, perhaps the Patagonia Hi-loft.

I've been meaning to replace my fleece & poly insulating layers with down for years now. Finally I did & couldn't be happier. Light, packable & warm.

The great thing about down "sweaters" is that they are warm but not too warm...you can use them most of the year (not just when it's freezing) and you can layer them under other jackets when it does get super cold out. I was stoked to get this down sweater...it is just the right warmth, and the fabric is slick, so it slides easily against other fabrics when you layer it (I've had other jackets bind up when layered). A couple of people have already asked me where I got it...

Great mid-layer under a waterproof shell for the backpacking camp. Also makes a great pillow in the right size stuff sack. Quality is excellent! It is extremely warm for its weight. I do week-long 75 or so mile hikes in the Spring and Fall so I usually get some very cold backpacking weather conditions. This product will meet its intended purpose nicely.
One commenter says it's too shiny while another says it's not shiny enough . . . go figure! If it doesn't fit then you ordered the wrong size . . . duh!

I should have paid more attention to "Fan of Down"'s review; the jacket that arrived is not the same as what is shown in the picture. The jacket that arrived has horizontal baffles.
While the jacket fits well if you are just walking around, there is no freedom of movement in the arm pits. As you start to lift your arms, it looks like you have giant shoulder pads on and the bottom of the jacket lifts up.
Despite the amazing price, I believe this jacket will be going back.

I picked this up on clearance for less than $100 wtih a coupon and what a steal, I couldn't be happier. I bought a L and the fit is perfect for me (5'10 180lbs with a bigger chest). It's much warmer than it looks (though this is my first down jacket). I think I'd agree that below freezing with nothing but a t-shirt underneath would be a bit chilly, but at 40 degrees F it's just right (assuming your not hiking or being physical). The advertized average weight is 15oz, but my L weighed only 12.6oz.

Comments about Cordillera Aiguille 800 Down Sweater - Men's - Special Buy:
Was very surprised with how incredibly shiny this was--almost metallic--and a bit too much for most outdoor ventures (black color). Very little insulation in the sleaves also. Oddest part was the fit. I've never had a problem with the sleaves being too small for me in an extra large with any brand--but these were too tight in both biceps. Tried to find other reviews but nothing comes up when you google Cordillera. While high on value--this one is getting sent back without ever being warn outside.
