Comments about Princeton Tec Amp 3.5 LED Flashlight:

Not sure it gets any better than this light. Super bright 100 lumens on high power with 50h runtime. Half the power and more than double the runtime...! Lightweight at only 4 ozs. Small and compact this LED light is the nuts!

Comments about Princeton Tec Amp 3.5 LED Flashlight:

This is a much better light than the Amp 1.0 model or the 2.0 light. It takes a bit of work to get the AAA batteries lined up just right to make the light work. Trust me, you won't be doing this maneuver in the dark!
But once you get it working, the LED is very bright, providing more than enough light at 100 lumens setting to light up the trail or working area. The low power setting is just right to cook on stove or find items in pack or tent.

Comments about Princeton Tec Amp 3.5 LED Flashlight:

This is not a user friendly light. I was surprised when I put the batteries in the wrong way and then I smelled smoke and that was it. The unit was fried. It was dead. It may be a good design but it is not capable of any mistakes or errors on the user's part. There are other lights like the Maglite that are much better.

Comments about Princeton Tec Amp 3.5 LED Flashlight:

Bought this to replace a much larger flashlight. I was a little skeptical at first when I opened the package to install the batteries. It is a bit confusing to install, requiring about 8 seconds of thought. But once you realize how the batteries are supposed to be installed it ceases to be a concern.

Flashlight on low setting is more than enough, high setting is very impressive. Beam is clean and free of distortion.

One feature that I love is the fact that the power button is recessed to prevent unintentional operation. Flashlight is lightweight and another plus is the ability to use a carabiner.

Comments about Princeton Tec Amp 3.5 LED Flashlight:

I was looking for another flashlight to use for camping. You can never have too many.

I was drawn to the Amp line due to the high lumen output and the little bit of waterproofing (1 meter) they offer.

The light is very bright and the unit feels comfortable in the hand. Having become used to various other quality LED flashlights, this one feels like it's not very solid.

I might have given this flashlight four stars, except for the poorly designed battery compartment. Unlike every other flashlight in the world where inserting the batteries is a simple, foolproof exercise, the Amp is a bit of a nuisance in this regard.

The battery compartment doesn't guide the batteries into place well. You have to drop them in and sometimes wiggle them into place. I found that the batteries easily get wedged into some plastic fins on the inside of the main body. It's not a major problem, but a sign of poorly thought out design.

One feature that you may or may not like is the power switch. You press once to turn on the light in low brightness mode. Press it again to switch to high brightness. Pressing again continues to cycle between low and high. You have to hold the power button to turn off the light. I personally didn't like it, but that's pretty subjective. It's a minor gripe.
