Comments about ENO Twilights LED Light String:
Picked this bad boy up on a whim. I like most of ENO's stuff so I figured Id give it a try, that and Im a sucker for fun lighting bits. This thing is a string of LED Christmas lights powered by AAs. Its best use I would think would be for hammock campers to run along their ridge line to have some easy spacious light in their shelter. For any one else its just something to play with. Its really light the batteries are heavier than the rest of the thing. The real downside is that the guts of the thing aren't quite to my liking. The circuit is completely open and looks like something I could have done in elementary school. so the connection could weaken or short out easily. Also the battery casing is not super sturdy looking and has no waterproofing at ALL. I suppose the case could offer some protection, but most hammock campers wouldn't even bother bringing the case even if they did use it. So its SUPER susceptible to the elements. The LEDs are solid and relatively bright, if you have good eyesight you could do a spot of reading with them, and if they last as long as they say, and there is no reason to think LED wouldn't than you wont be replacing the batteries for a few trips. Though I wonder if they will corrode in the unit from the element exposure. If these things were 5 bucks I would be totally happy. But for [$] I want a stronger casing with a spot of waterproofing a more solid circuit and maybe even a more compact carrying case. I feel like I spent most of my money on the case. Its fun and Ill have some fun with it, but it fell short in the quality department. We will see how it holds up, maybe Im wrong and it will work flawlessly for years.

Comments about ENO Twilights LED Light String:
These lights are cool because of how many different ways you can put them to use. They are marketed for a hammock set up, and they work great in that situation. But string lights turn out to be better than an LED lantern in a lot of situations in any camp site. It's nice not to have all of your light coming from one point. Its easier on the eyes and if you set them up in a spread out way you don't have shadows falling on things you're trying to look at no matter where you are standing. Wrap them around a tree trunk if you are staying somewhere that doesn't allow fires. And if you want a lantern? Put them in a plastic bag, BAM! Lantern. You can hang them pretty much anywhere you want them. Heck you can wrap yourself in them and wear them like a full body head-lamp. The batteries also last a really long time. The only problem is that the lights dim as the batteries wear, but you'll know when to change them at least. They aren't the sturdiest looking things but in my inventory they have definitely replaced a much fancier battery-powered LED lantern.

Comments about ENO Twilights LED Light String:
I'm currently 80 hours into testing these lights, and so far they're working fine on 2 rechargeable batteries. However, the light output with 1.25v rechargeables is considerably less than the output with regular 1.5v batteries. I would suggest using non-rechargeables.

Received this as a gift from a relative after commenting about how cool it would be to have at such-n-such music festival where camping is the norm. We all had way too much fun hanging these lights in various trees and places, and I found they put out a really pleasant amount of light for casual hanging around at night -- not so much that your night vision was destroyed but enough that you could easily find your camp (and look way cool too) and see enough to function reasonably well. I'd not want to read by these, but I ran them all night for 4 nights (one in the rain) with no noticeable dimming and lots of comments about how cool they were from passers by.
For the backcountry, I'd leave them home and bring a traditional light unless I was using a hammock where I could see them being pretty good along a top line. Not heavy or bulky, but not as versatile as I'd want for my style of hiking. But for casual camping where finding your space is important and a little light is really helpful, these are great. I'd not quite call them flimsy, but nor are they particularly robust.

Very good product I love it and its run time my one con is it is kinda flimsily. Wires are not super secure and I am scared I might pull out wires if i pull to hard. Well worth the money though!

Comments about ENO Twilights LED Light String:
The battery compartment rear cover doesn't stay sealed and falls off. The light is best used to emulate stars.
I like items that are hard working and functional versus this item, which hardly works and is from a utlity standpoint, hardly working.
Hardly is the effort to set this up worthwhile.
Better to get a lantern - small from REI, than to waste the energy and money on this item.
It's surprising Eno would place their logo on this one.

I purchased this for my husband as a gift for us both to use ( I know) on on trailer camper. We do a lot of camping in State campgrounds with no electic and like to use this to hang on our awning. It is perfect for that.

I just used these lights for the first time on a backpacking trip. The lights were enough to illuminate our tent and they were also great to hang between two trees outside and have a little bit of festive light on one side of the campsite. I brought them in addition to my headlamp but in place of a flashlight/lantern and I think I will be doing that again.

Used these lights while backpacking at big bend. Added light for exiting tent during the night and gave enough light around tent to see any animals checking us out. Gave a little comfort zone during the night.

Comments about ENO Twilights LED Light String:
The light output from these LEDs is extremely weak. After getting these, I picked up a string of battery-powered LED lights intended for decorative purposes (for less money). The cheaper strand puts out much more light. The nice soft case on the ENO lights doesn't make up for the extemely weak output. The ENO lights aren't even very good for decorating camp, let alone providing anything like useful light.
