Comments about Ruffwear Ruff Wear Bark 'N Boot Polar Trex Winter Dog Boots:
It's hard to imagine that Ruff Wear spent any time at all, let alone any meaningful time, testing these boots.
The first time I put these boots on my dogs, it was very easy to identify at least 5 or 6 very signifacant design flaws. If I can do this in minutes, not sure how Ruff Wear can't do it in years...
Just a few:
- the rigid cuff irritates dogs' skin
- cuff/ leg hole is way to big for paw size. Too much bunched up material prevents proper cinching of the cord.
Within the first 45 minutes of our snowshoe trip on a groomed trail, we spent (literally) 30 minutes putting the boots back on our dogs after they repeatedly fell off. After about the 7th time a boot fell of, we just took them off an hiked without them.
This was not user error, we could not have cinched the boots any tighter. These boots are simply very poorly designed, useless junk.

Comments about Ruffwear Ruff Wear Bark 'N Boot Polar Trex Winter Dog Boots:
These work really well you just have to make sure you tighten them well or they will fall off. It takes a little getting used to for the dog. They work great for long nordic skiies though. Some snow can get packed in through the top when they are running through deep snow, but this hasn't caused any problems.

These boots are poorly designed. The straps are hard to tighten unless they are wet. When they are wet they come loose too easily. They quickly fall off. If not completely, they fall half way off and then ware right through because the dog is walking on the part of the shoe that does not have tread. Very disappointed Especially for the price. Also, much of the time a dog's back paws are smaller than the front paws, but the shoes are sold in 4 packs, or singles directly from ruffwear. I have 2 dogs which solves this problem. But a single dog owner is looking at needing to buy 2 pair right off the bat.

Comments about Ruffwear Ruff Wear Bark 'N Boot Polar Trex Winter Dog Boots:
Most people complain of boots falling off. The reason is they do not follow the instructions to check strap tightness after 15min of use and re-adjust. Most people do not put boots on tight enough to ensure they do not come off.
Best boot on the market!

Bruno looked pretty funny trying these for the first time. I had high hopes that they would improve his snow and mountain biking ability, but the don't stay on. Here is funny video of his first use:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RwcYuSQcFFE&context=C325b7a6ADOEgsToPDskLwnGEZw3UjgoYwscPFWjuSThat car is not ours by the way. He is just really embarrassed and wants out of there. As soon as the video was done he shook them off, and never wore them again.

We bought these and the Grip Trex boots to try out for our dog, because we wanted to take her snowshoeing with us. These boots don't stay on. Not because our dog fights them, but because they're poorly designed. The buckle and bungee don't hold tight enough-- they'd probably do better with some velcro. Really disappointing to return them, but all 4 came off within about 5 minutes of walking-- before we'd even gotten to the snow!
Better luck next time, Ruffwear.

Comments about Ruffwear Ruff Wear Bark 'N Boot Polar Trex Winter Dog Boots:
Had high hopes for these considering how much I love their other boots, but they just fall off! In long snow expeditions where paw ice-balls can build up, our dog usually wears the regular RuffWear boots, but sometimes ice can develop in the velco so we thought we'd try these. Unfortunately, the design just doesn't work. The main strap comes undone no matter how many ways your try to secure it. We're going to have to return three shoes instead of four.

This is a good idea but poorly designed. I was unable to keep the boots on my dog no matter what I did. I tried using the ruffwear socks and even vet-wrap but the boots continued to come off.

Comments about Ruffwear Ruff Wear Bark 'N Boot Polar Trex Winter Dog Boots:
I had high hopes for these boots. With the buckle just above the pads and pull cord at the ankle I thought they would stay on better than other boots we have tried. The buckle did not stay once it got cold and wet and the pull cord did not keep the boots up. They ended up slipping off within minutes. We tried putting the boots back on several times tightening the boots tighter each time but they won't stay on. If there was a third stap in between or there was one strap that wound around from above the pad to the ankle they may stay on. We returned them immediately and will keep looking for a boot that will stay on.

Comments about Ruffwear Ruff Wear Bark 'N Boot Polar Trex Winter Dog Boots:
We originally purchased the large size for my lab, but found those to be too big. We exchanged for medium, which we thought fit perfectly. The sole fit, the upper fit - we locked and loaded. These do NOT stay on. I adjusted, readjusted, bought the socks, these do not stay on. It has to do with the midline of the boot. There is a buckle that fastens above the dog's pads and then a bungee that tightens above the "ankle" Then there is the big gap in the middle between them that gapes and bags and works it's way back down until your dog is walking on the fabric and they are half way off. I love my Ruff Wear Bark n' Boots Skyliner. They fit great and stay on all day, but wanted something a little tougher for serious snow. You would think paying so much would mean a good shoe, but it's not the case here.
