The Skullcandy Single-Shot Audio Kit by Smith was not a good purchase. When I took the product out of the box all of the functions worked fine. I hooked it up to a Smith Varient Brim helmet and an Android Razer phone. Once on the hill, the song skip, answer phone, and pause functions stopped working. Luckly the volume still worked so I could enjoy the rest of the day with some tunes. The next day I returned it to REI for a replacement of the same product.

When I brought the product home I tried it using the same equipment. Everything worked well. Again, when I was using the equipment on the mountain the functions stopped working. I have given up on returning it again and I am just using the product for the speakers and volume function.

I would give the speaker quality a 4 out of 5 star rating. They fit well in the helmet too.

I would go with another product if avaliable.

I have a Giro helmet for snowboarding. I searched for comfortable speakers with great sound that worked with my iPhone 3GS for music and talking on the phone. I even looked at some expensive bluetooth models. I mounted the clip-on controller to my helmet on the outside of the ear pad. It has a thumbwheel volume adjustment and large single button. I was really stoked to learn the button is fully functional with the iPhone 3GS. It allows me to answer/end calls, play/pause music, next track (double click), previous track (triple click), and iPhone Voice Control (hold button). I couldn't be happier. Microphone sound quality during a phone call is great too. The single cord tucks inside my jacket to the iPhone and I am able to easily control everything--no batteries required. A much better solution than the iPhone earbuds and worth the price!
