Comments about Salomon Quest 4D GTX Hiking Boots - Women's:
I bought these for my wife. Our REI "boot guide" helped us out, and lead us to the perfect boot for my wife's hard-to-fit feet. We are in training for the Grand Canyon, so we're progressing through tougher climbs and longer trails. We bought these on the way to one of our favorite hikes, and she wore these out of the store. We went straight for the climbs. She said they felt like "walking on clouds". The only thing we could complain about may be the color, but that will change as the trails "dust" them.

Comments about Salomon Quest 4D GTX Hiking Boots - Women's:
I bought these boots for my first venture into backpacking. Although I knew better, I did not break them in prior to leaving for our 18 mile trip. I wore liners and wool socks. These boots were fantastic. I didn't even come close to developing a blister. They are super comfortable, fit my feet well, and are easily adjusted. Much of the trail was downhill "rock surfing" and I never lost my balance or slipped. Also what I really appreciated about these boots was the ease of lacing them up. It is VERY easy to lace them to the perfect tension. The reason I gave them a 4 star instead of 5 is because I have very high arches. These boots don't have quite the support I need for that. However, I'm sure once I buy inserts they will be a 5 out of 5.
I have yet to test them out in wet conditions. But I'm already thinking about my next trip and I'm not concerned at all about my feet. I'm VERY pleased with these boots.

Comments about Salomon Quest 4D GTX Hiking Boots - Women's:
I was looking for a new pair of hiking boots and decided to go to REI, the individual helping me in the shoe department was awesome. I explained my issues with hiking boots (I went through 2 pairs of Merrell's in less than 2 years) and he suggested these boots. I wore them for 14 hours the first day and was totally comfortable. They seem to be handling the desert very well and I hope they hold up. I would definitely buy these boots again! Plus they're blue:)

Comments about Salomon Quest 4D GTX Hiking Boots - Women's:
I have never once had a blister in these boots, and that is after over 250 miles of use. I bought them 2 weeks before a 50 mile backpacking endeavor after finding out that my previous boots (great for day hikes) destroyed my feet when worn while carrying a load.
I systematically and methodically broke these boots in before my trip. (I started at 1 mile for two days, and then each day increased the distance by 0.5 miles.) I wore these for the entire backpacking trip and did not have one blister or toenail issue (something I've had from past boots.)
I have never completely submerged the boots in water, but when splashing through puddles and mud, they keep my feet dry. I've never gotten them soaked through.
Last week, I made a dumb and forgetful move. I went on a hike and discovered when I got to the park (an hour away) that I had just put on a pair of cute socks that came up to my ankle. After 8 miles, my ankles were slightly sore, but still NO BLISTERS. I love these boots, and I hope they last forever and I never ever have to buy another pair again. If I have to completely replace them I might cry.

Comments about Salomon Quest 4D GTX Hiking Boots - Women's:
I have re-occuring plantar faciitis and a heel spur... I also have twisty ankles. I wanted a light-weight boot that wouldn't tire out my legs (increasing my risk of sprains) but also supportive enough to protect the bottom of my feet and arch. These boots have a slightly wider forefoot than my old Asolos and are much lighter so I thought I'd give them a try. The sole width in the heel and heel cup are really supportive of the ankle and I felt really stable in these and one really cool thing about these boots is I really like the ankle hook locking mechanism that allows for custom lacing and a nice fit..... However the soles are too thin and there is no natural arch support in these boots. After each day hike and a single 12-mile RT overnighter with light pack the bottom of my feet felt like hamburger even with the addition of really supportive inserts (I don't bother with the flimsy ones that come with any boot). Another thing about sizing is that even though these boots have a wide toe box, the mid-foot is kind of narrow and I ended up with a blister and the side of my foot. I can't recommend these boots to anybody with foot support needs.

Comments about Salomon Quest 4D GTX Hiking Boots - Women's:
Was looking for a pair of winter boots to wear in New England for hiking and snowshoeing. Also, for wearing into work on those snowy, slushy days. I tried 3 different brands of boots, brought each back because they were too stiff around the calf area, cutting into my shins. The Quest boots I am glad to say don't! Across my toes are wide and I have a difficult time fitting into shoes, these are perfect, even with my heaviest socks. My heels don't slip. Very nice insert, an ortholite. I can't find anything to say that is a negative at this point. Have had them for 1 month, will see how they hold up after a year!

just got the boots, only used, so far, for snow shoeing. keep the feet warm and dry, room for othopedic, just a little rubbing on the left shin, boot comes up pretty high. never been a fan of blue, wish it was in a sage green.

Climbed Kilimanjaro in these. I didn't even have to break them in (didn't have time so we packed a lot of bandaids-which I NEVER needed).
No blisters-felt like running sneakers. Also, discovered they were comfortable to wear around the camp (we lost our luggage). Trekked through a lot of rain and cold weather conditions-these were durable-waterproof-and my ankles never felt tired at the end of the day.
I couldn't have wished for a better hiking boot.

Comments about Salomon Quest 4D GTX Hiking Boots - Women's:
The first day I took the shoes out, I was definitely impressed with their waterproof-ness. I received a small blister on the back of my feet, took them to get taken care of at REI. I found out I have low foot volume, so an insert was fitted for it. They continue to fit great, and I am looking forward to longer hikes with them.

I bought these boots for my 75 yr old father to wear at his mountain cabin. He needed something sturdy and well constructed. He has only worn them once so far and he said they were very warm, comfortable and helped him walk on the uneven mountain terrain.
