        I use this as a lite wool sock for both running and everyday use. The normal thick wool socks are just too big and warm to stuff into a running shoe. This sock is a great fit for running in cold weather - it keeps my feet warm but not hot. I am buying more so I can use them for normal wear in the winter too. They are just right for the cold floor of my office.

        I have used my current pair quite a bit for running. I noticed on the reviews here that there were some complaints about wear on the heels/toes. I checked my socks and they seem to have held up pretty well over the two years I have had them. Some wear, but they are a thinner sock(which is why I like them).

        I took these as summer hiking socks through Europe. Wool is the way to go for multi-day use but these weren't as nice as other (albeit less attractive) REI socks I've gotten.

          These socks pill up like mad, and one of my pairs has a hole on the top of the toe after only eight washes or so. The elastic is crazy--I have thin legs, and I end up with an alarming dent in my calves after wearing these to work. That can't be good for my circulation. I won't buy these again.

          Although I like how they look and hold up with lots of waswhings, the biggest problem is that they are way too tight on my calf. And I'm a farily light guy, 140 lbs., with normal or thinnner calves.

            I use these socks for work and walking. They are a great alternative to heavier weight hiking socks. The weight is somewhere between lightweight hiking and dress socks. The fit on them is very nice with good stretch. There is good cushion for the limited bulk that these socks have. I did not follow the washing directions of "wash inside out, dry with no heat" I just used the regular wash and dry that I have used on all REI and Smartwool socks, they did not change fit or have any other negative impact.

            Great socks, I would recommend them to anyone.
