With savvy appeal, the REI Nikole day bag boasts a convertible design that goes from a mini backpack to a sling pack to meet your travel and everyday needs.

Main body of bag is made from 100% recycled PET; each bag keeps 28 16-oz. plastic bottles out of landfills!
Post-consumer recycled PET polyester is tough enough to endure the daily grind
Shoulder strap design allows use as a single sling or 2-strap backpack—simply unclip a strap and tuck it away for use as a sling
Zippered panel opening on main compartment opens wide to access items such as magazines, books and files; interior padded pocket holds e-book reader or small netbook
Front pocket features a panel organizer to stow your daily essentials such as wallet, MP3 player, change, keys and pens
Zippered front pocket includes a key fob and small pockets for must-have items
Back panel features a zippered vertical pocket; inside is a smaller pocket for your passport
Zip-away side pocket is sized for a water bottle; side slip pocket can keep a small umbrella within reach
Air mesh padding on back panel and shoulder straps controls moisture by wicking perspiration away from your body for cool carrying comfort

I use this bag as a purse. I have it in the brown/beige and also in the black/gray. It holds everything I need and is super easy to use. It's also cute. When I am out on day trips it is also big enough to hold my DSLR and an extra lens. I love this bag so much that I have also purchased two as gifts, one for a mom and one for a friend who just carries a lot of stuff. They both love it as well.

I bought this day bag approximately 3 to 4 years ago. I don't like carrying purses so I use it everyday and it has been all over the world. I'm pretty rough on it, throwing it on the ground, hanging it by its straps, etc., and it still looks brand new! I'm not sure what the previous comment was about the "old" bags being roomier because this is a fairly old bag and is the same design as the ones REI is currently selling. I find that it has plenty of room for a day bag. It easily carries a couple of water bottles, my makeup bag, my wallet, etc. It has lots of pockets for separating things and pockets for credit/gift cards, pens and various items. I
I LOVE THIS BAG! And it's cute too!
My only wish is that REI would bring back the Gray/Black color because it blends in with more outfits.

I use this to travel to work everyday on the Subway. It fits a surprising amount of things! It is small and stylish, yet extremely functional. I also use this as an overnight/weekend bag, and it fits all of my clothes plus some. This is a great bag, and I highly recommend it!

I'm not really a purse person (hate changing them all the time) so when I found this wonderful, attractive day bag several years ago I was thrilled. It has plenty of compartments and is small enough, but roomy. Extremely durable. I bought the one I have 3 or 4 years ago, use it daily, its been to different parts of the world, I'm very rough on it and it still looks like new. Only complaint: I wish they would bring back the grey/black color I don't like the new steel color.

I bought this pack for a trip that involved both airplane travel and a lot of walking around town/day hikes. It is the perfect size for someone my size (5'4") and has just the right amount of padding. On the plane I was able to fit in my paperwork, book, glasses, socks, small purse, phone, camera, snacks, etc. For day use I added a water bottle (special pocket on the outside - nice touch). The smaller size limits the amount you can carry, but this was an advantage for me and kept me from loading up with more weight than I could comfortably manage. I'm back from the first trip and about to take my new favorite pack on a second one, where I am sure it will be just as perfect!

I use this backpack as my regular handbag. It is much more stylish than other backpacks, and carries everything I need, including my iPad. There are plenty of places to put stuff, but not so many that I have to waste time searching for what I need. The quality seems superior to any of the name brands that are available all over town. I would recommend this bag to anyone who wants something more functional than a traditional handbag, and doesn't look like you're going hiking.
