Comments about Atlas 827 Elektra Snowshoe - Women's:
I searched for days to find snowshoes in an affordable price range that would last me more than a season or two. I found these Atlas snowshoes at REI and gave them a shot. I LOVE them. The straps, while a bit tricky to get over a bigger boot, once on are incredibly secure. No slip or loosening while being active. The crampons are secure in the snow and there is very little snow flip when doing average trail walking and even off trail a bit! They are quiet and easy to maneuver and stay put on my foot. I snowshoe in the mountains on trails at least twice a week in the winter and have already put these to good use. I do moderate hills, rolling terrain, mostly on the trails, a little bit off trail and spent some time in two feet of fresh powder and they handled perfectly. I cant say enough good things about these inexpensive shoes. I am glad I splurged the extra few bucks for these VS the $30 cheaper ones. Well worth the money.

Comments about Atlas 827 Elektra Snowshoe - Women's:
I've never been snowshoeing before, and had so much fun with these! I rented another, older Elekta model for my sister and seeing them side by side made it clear how much the design has improved. The kick back was negligent, getting into and out of the shoes was easy even with gloves on, and we had a great time both following the trail and breaking our own trail. Can't wait to take them out again!

Comments about Atlas 827 Elektra Snowshoe - Women's:
I borrowed my daughter-in-laws Xmas gift Atlas snowshoes and loved them. First time out this year and it was a pleasure. I felt like I could go all day. I like them so much I am buying a pair for myself.

Comments about Atlas 827 Elektra Snowshoe - Women's:
I purchased these in anticipation of snow, having missed out last year. I can't wait to use them. I'm writing this review, even though I haven't used them yet, to let you know what I found out:
I called the Atlas Snowshoe company to ask them why there aren't reviews and why people are talking about snow flip with other models - could I expect the same with my model. I'm glad I called. They were great at answering all my questions.
Well, this is a new model, even though they've made series 8 before. What's new is the FRS system that pivots well (allowing you to move in many directions with out much maneuvering), and (Atlas said) significantly reduces snow flip. Also, be sure to purchase the correct size for your weight, I purchased 8-27. Atlas says I should not experience much if any snow flip, unless I am in severe conditions (which I don't plan to be). The lenght of the shoe matters because when there is more surface area on which to put your weight, it will reduce the snow fip. So, with the FRS technology and the length, I should be in good shape and not get much snow slip on my back (although, some is normal).
Speaking of conditions, Atlas also told me that I could use these in nearly all snow conditions, trails, rolling terrain, etc. And, I asked about the depth of snow - although we wouldn't need them for 3 inches of snow, you can try them out if walking on a soft surface and they'll be just fine. I hope this helps other women out there looking for a nice snowshoe, and I'll write back once the snow arrives and I get to try them out (either in MD, or whether I travel to find the snow!)
