Comments about Garmin Forerunner 110 GPS Heart Rate Monitor:
Have had to return two of these units. 1st Forerunner 110 took on water and stopped working. 2nd one went blank while connected to the PC and never came back.
When they work, I'm pretty happy with them. They are accurate and log the data I care about.
"page" and "start/stop" buttons are unfortunately on opposite sides of the watch. This makes it too easy accidentally press the stop button when pinching the watch between your thumb and forefinger to switch between displays.

Comments about Garmin Forerunner 110 GPS Heart Rate Monitor:
Got this as a birthday gift over a year ago. It has worked very well for me. It's easy to use and it's great to see what I have done mapped for me on line. I use it mostly for running and mtn biking but have also used it for snowboarding, snowshoeing, hiking, etc.. Some say the features are limited but for most people it will be just fine (good enough for avg athlete out there).
When you upload your data into Garmin's website it will give you your elevation change (not to accurate) but good enough, it will map your trail on google maps (way cool to see), and show you basic stats about what you have done like pace, speed, among others. You can set goals as well as see what you have done over time.
After seeing this in use my wife wanted one and she has had hers for about a year as well. We have not had any of the problems others have reported. My only complaint is that it sometimes looses satellite connection, not often, but at least twice a month. I use it 4-5 times a week for about 30-60 mins each time. I have found a full battery helps the watch stay locked onto the satellites.
After seeing all the negative reviews I thought I would post one about long term use. Like I said, it has been great and I plan to get another as soon as this one gives out on me or I have a bad crash on my bike and it dies.
Only give it four stars because of the drop satellites thing. It annoys me but probably happens to all these watches.

Comments about Garmin Forerunner 110 GPS Heart Rate Monitor:
my first one I loved -- great features, worked well for awhile. It started to fog up on the inside and I thought it was just a fluke. So I returned it to REI who replaced it. It was replaced with one which had been previously used [which I didn't know until I downloaded my first run]. Then after about 6 uses the second one fogged up on the inside. There was no submersion or anything of the watch. Garmin told me that they had never heard of such a problem but that I should not wear it in the rain, or shower or anything like that. I love the features but am going to find another brand -- poor quality and poor service.
Service and delivery comments:
The Garmin service people know there is a problem with this product and deny it -- incredibly POOR service from them.

Comments about Garmin Forerunner 110 GPS Heart Rate Monitor:
I am about to get another because I cannot find mine and I love having it for every workout. I am training for several triathlons and will need to get some real miles in for training and the watch makes training real for time and distance. Love the heart rate monitor now that I really know how to use it to pace myself. And the review online is awesome. I just finished a long bike ride with friends and I printed the map, distance, time splits per miles for the other riders and they loved the details. Most of them have a spedometer on their bikes but not the detailed information, so they thought it was great.
I know folks have complained about actual pace for that instant versus pace for the mile you are in and I like the current setup. If I am on track for the mile I can keep up that pace, if I need a walk break then when I get back in it I can peek and see if I can still make that mile goal.
And then when I get home I can review that run with other similar runs.
I also use to time and count laps in the pool. Once I get started I forget to count, but when wearing the watch I seem to remember better to hit the lap button after completing a lap. Keeps me honest and also keeps track of time, splits per lap too so I can see progress.
I had one friend complain that battery did not last long, but mine updated to have a turn off setting so I turn it off between workouts. Then its ready to go, if I can find it. The download is a little tricky getting the prongs right but I can eventually get it to work. Ok, now I'll look one more time...

Comments about Garmin Forerunner 110 GPS Heart Rate Monitor:
I was curious about GPS watches and wanted to try one. I bought this watch to try it out to see if it would be something I would actually use and enjoy. I wanted a basic watch with basic functions, (elevation gain/loss, min/mile pace, timer, distance, calories burned, etc). This watch takes about a minute to lock on to satellites but once it's locked on it never loses a signal. I do a lot of trail running and it has been very accurate in thick forests and at the bottom of high canyon walls. This watch has exceeded my expectations. My only complaint is that when the battery loses its ability to hold a charge you need to send it in to Garmin to replace the battery. This is a perfect beginners GPS watch. I loved it so now I'm in the market of upgrading to the 610 that has more features...as soon as I can save enough money.

Comments about Garmin Forerunner 110 GPS Heart Rate Monitor:
Had this for about 6 months and it works OK. Has a few minor problems. If you don't get the chest strap tight enough the HRM is erratic - and I mean tight enough to almost be uncomfortable. Got used to it, but the HRM didn't work the first couple of times until I figured that out.Second is a design flaw IMHO. The battery charge icon is only displayed when charging it or when using it. You don't know if there is enough juice until it's turned on and your outside and starting the activity. The connection between the computer and watch is twitchy. It will almost always charge, but usually requires several attempts before the computer recognizes the drive so you can download. There seems to be an issue with the distance between the HRM and the chest moniter. I have relatively long arms and loss of heart rate occurs frequently. Have rarely had this problem with any other HRM. I just use the software and not the online service. Have not had any problems with lockup or hazy display like some others. Overall it does what it is supposed to do and I like it OK. Relatively inexpensive for a GPS watch so it would be OK for entry level use.

Comments about Garmin Forerunner 110 GPS Heart Rate Monitor:
Garmin will push software updates to your agent and your device will be left inoperable. Further Tech support is an 8-5 shop leaving working professionals with little or on help when (and it will) need support.

Comments about Garmin Forerunner 110 GPS Heart Rate Monitor:
The 110 worked beautifully for about a month (used for tracking distances run, volksmarches), but now I'm experiencing the same problem as so many others - not being able to upload anything, watch seeming to freeze. I spent a lot of money on this product and expected much better. I am extremely disappointed. :(

- great unit, reliable
- wish unit tracked speed and distance indoors with aid of footpod (Garmin 210 suppose to do all this but has issues with counting cals burned)

Comments about Garmin Forerunner 110 GPS Heart Rate Monitor:
I bought this in July of 2010 so I have logged some time with it. Initially, I was impressed based solely on the GPS data that I didn't have with my other HRM. That's where the fairy tale ended. It locked up and I had to return it for another. This one is still working though it loses connection with the HRM quite frequently and it is sketchy at best. Nothing like doing a hard effort, looking at your watch and it reads 101 BPM.
Next, this is what irks me the most. The display is very limited and the only things you can change is time/elapsed time/HR. You cannot view your HR with your elapsed time and so on. You can only see your HR, pace, and lap time. It would be perfect if I could change what is displayed at the top and bottom of the watch.
Another big quirk is that the software does not show you your heart rate per lap. This data is IMPORTANT.
I looked at replacing this with the Timex GPS but the reviewers for that one said that the software is even worse than Garmin's and you have to pay for an upgrade Why don't the companies that design equipment for athletes get athlete's input?
