Comments about Garmin Forerunner 110 GPS Fitness Monitor:
I've owned the first version of the Garmin Forerunner (201). I've owned a arm strapped GPS device through Timex years ago and have owned a Garmin 205 and 305 for sometime and have been happy with all these devices for running. Overall in my experience with running all you need is a device that shows how far and the average speed you're going. I read some posts on here that "current" pace is not available on this model but in my experience "current" pace is really only 50% accurate (sometimes). I would never use current pace on any GPS device because its so delayed. Pace per mile is still the best indicator and if you've been running as long as me you know your body and get a sense about what pace you're running.

Comments about Garmin Forerunner 110 GPS Fitness Monitor:
This is my first GPS watch and I am delighted that I made the plunge. This GPS device does all that I want and need it to do and more. I have skinny wrists and it's great to have a watch that fits well (as snug as I might want it). I appreciate the fact that it looks like a watch and not like a small computer strapped to my arm.
I was concerned with reviews that were critical that current pace was not a feature. Now that I am aware that the watch shows the elapsed pace for the current user-defined lap (mile in my case), I'm plenty happy with the immediacy of the feedback. Anything more immediate is a bit too analytical for my preference.
Everything works as promised and the ability to download the data to GarminConnect and get mapping plus detailed information on my runs is all the information that I need and want.

Comments about Garmin Forerunner 110 GPS Fitness Monitor:
Very excited to get the new Garmin 110, but shocked current pace was left off as a feature. I thought I would be ok with average pace (thought it might even speed me up) but in reality it just become more annoying than anything. I gave it a week, it is going back. I even contacted Garmin. No plans for a software update. My old Nike+ does more than the Garmin 110 and for a 1/4 of the price.

Comments about Garmin Forerunner 110 GPS Fitness Monitor:
The Garmin 110 is an entry-level watch that eschews the full feature set of the higher Garmin models for simplicity. It only displays the important data: total distance, total time, HR, and average pace for the current lap (or whole run if no laps are used). At the end of each manually entered or auto lap, it displays the time for the lap and the average pace for the lap for a few seconds. It's easy to use, the battery lasts longer than I can run, and it's only slightly bigger than my old Polar RS100. It took about 5 minutes to configure the watch with my weight, activity level, and preferences. It is very fast at acquiring signal, usually about 20 to 60 seconds.
The Garmin Connect website is also easy to use, and the run playback feature is excellent. It's really helpful to see how my heart rate is affected by elevation and pace change after a run.
The only feature I feel is missing is the ability to display the average pace for the whole run, which would be of use during a half or full marathon. That's a relatively minor complaint; I am very pleased with the watch overall.

I was just like you guys reading this. Spending some time researching the Garmin line-up on REI. When it came to my decision I asked myself, "What do I really need?" Well, I really just wanted to know how far I'm running, time, and a general idea of pace. This watch is exactly that! Plus! With Garmin Connect online, you can upload your data and get maps, pace at every point in your run, and even elevation gain/loss. What a motivating piece of technology. I told my engineering dad he was born too early to get to enjoy the number crunching this thing puts out. So, don't get all caught up with this watch not giving your your pace at the exact moment you look down. Relax man! Enjoy your run and check out all that data after the run. Someone had to come to the defense of this cool watch. Of course you could pay more on other models. But why? See ya on the roads.

Comments about Garmin Forerunner 110 GPS Fitness Monitor:
Love the simplicity of the Garmin Forerunner 110 - previously owned the 205 model but there were so many features it was just overwhelming to me. The 110 is VERY simple - turn on the GPS, press start when you are ready to track your run then press stop when you're done. That's it - everything else is automatic and I absolutely love that. The essential basics are viewable from the unit. Detailed mile/lap, elevation, pace and HR data can be viewed very easily from Garmin Connect and you can print out lovely diagrams of that data. Way more accurate than the pedometer I once had and way simpler than the 205. For me, just right.

Comments about Garmin Forerunner 110 GPS Fitness Monitor:
Loved the Garmin 110 for all of 1 month before it died in the middle of a rainy day while doing track workout. Not even close to water-resistant, despite claims otherwise on the box. How can a runner's watch NOT be at least able to last 30 minutes in the rain?????.

Garmin hit the mark with this one.
Fits on wrist like a normal watch. Functional, intuitive, easy-to-use. By far, the best of the series of running watches they have developed. When you don't give it much thought and it does it's job, it's a winner.

Comments about Garmin Forerunner 110 GPS Fitness Monitor:
No current pace - WT?? While my 110 is much simpler than the 405 that my wife has used for the last few years, replacing Current Pace with Average Pace per Lap leaves a huge hole in the watch's function. I set my Auto Lap for 1/2 mile in shorter training runs and for 1 mile in longer races & like to compare my pace over similar terrain (such as hills). I can't do that with this watch.
The battery life is marginally better than the 405, but still not sufficient to where as a regular watch.

Comments about Garmin Forerunner 110 GPS Fitness Monitor:
I have small wrists and looked extensively for a running watch that would fit. This watch is great for small wrists! The face part extends further than my wrist, but the band tightens enough that it doesn't matter. It doesn't move around or anything (as all other watches have). Also, I am a new runner and all I had to do is charge this watch and press buttons...Super easy to use. I highly recommend this watch!!
