Comments about Oregon Scientific ATC 2K Helmet Cam - '09 Closeout:

So I got this camera when it was the "Deal of the Day". [$] out the door. For the price I paid, I was not expecting much. A nice sunny day the images are okay. Night time driving is alright just as long as you have sufficient lighting (It's mounted on my truck with lights everywhere).I read that if you remove the two triangular screw underneath the camera to remove the water proofing part of the mic, the audio is much better. I have not tried it yet though.I wouldn't spend $100 for this camera though, but since it was going for [$] after tax, I jumped on it. Not the greatest quality, but decent for youtube uploads to share with friends and family.

Comments about Oregon Scientific ATC 2K Helmet Cam - '09 Closeout:

I've had this unit for a couple of years. Mounting the camera is decent as it comes with a few different straps. I was able to find a rail mount for it and use it on my paintball gun. I have also used this as a wrist strap for bungee jumping.

Video is choppy, had no view finder, and the buttons are hard to push. Also the memory is limited to 2GB SD. This camera can take a good beating though.

For the outlet prices, its a good deal. Other than that, I would recommend a higher end camera that is more forgiving in regards to camera shake. What can I say, its the older model.

Comments about Oregon Scientific ATC 2K Helmet Cam - '09 Closeout:

After being harrassed by too many motorists, I mounted the ATC 2K on my bike handlebars to record the travails of my commute - you know, to show the cops/judge. Since then I've had no problems. Apparently, it also repels elephants, because I haven't had any problems with them either since I bought it.

Seriously, it takes decent video for action sports, but forget about the audio - the waterproofing renders the mic unusable for voice. It has taken a hard tumble onto the pavement without damage (while providing some humorous video.) Lots of mounting options, but it's a bit heavy, so side-mounting on a bike helmet will put a crick in your neck. Top-mounting will have you looking like the Great Gazoo. In the year I've had it, it has never failed me. It will record 1 hour and 44 minutes on a 2 gig SD card at it's highest resolution. A great value when on sale. A fun gadget that could be useful in lots of ways.

Comments about Oregon Scientific ATC 2K Helmet Cam - '09 Closeout:

Advertised as a 'Helmet Cam'. As most of us who ride anything from Mtn Bikes to Dirt Bikes, you would expect a 'Helmet Cam' to be shock proof. This is not. On a trail ride, the first hop shut the camera off! I had it mounted to the helmet as instructed. I reset the camera and started out again...wouldn't you know it, it shut off again through a set of rollers!

Do NOT buy this if you are an aggressive rider in the least. It's a WASTE OF MONEY.

    Additionally I contacted Oregon Scientific (3 emails and a phone call...left a message) asking for a refund...not a word.
