Comments about Canari Eclipse Bike Jacket - Men's:
I got this jacket primarily for the visibility of it, but upon wearing it I realized it is so much more. I have only used it during road cycling, but I plan to use it for mountain biking as well. The jacket provides more than adequate warmth and wind protection. I have used it in high 30s temps and did not get cold at all. Keep in mind that I had layered. The pockets are great for easy access and putting my snacks and phone in and they feel secure. I would highly recommend this jack for early spring and late fall rides. I have not used it in rain or warm temps yet. But I am sure it will perform great.

It is windproof and warm while riding. The color is highly visible! The zipper is small in size for average to large hands to operate.

Comments about Canari Eclipse Bike Jacket - Men's:
It is early February here in Missouri. I have been using the Canari Eclipse jacket now for a few weeks and am still experimenting with the new-to-me dimension that a windproof layer adds to cold-weather cycling. The warmth that it adds by blocking the wind is very surprising. A total re-evaluation of what-to-wear for what-conditions is required.
My experimentaion thus far seems to have always opted for a warmer-than-needed configuation. Although the material is not coated, it is also not appreciably breathable - just as I have found most 'breathable' fabrics to be when used in highly aerobic activities. After one ride in 20-degree weather, ice (sweat?) flakes that had formed on the inside of the jacket 'rained' ('snowed'?) onto the floor when I pulled the jacket off. My insulating layers were soaked (but thankfully, still insulating). As I mentioned, I'm still experimenting!
That said, the Eclipse jacket works admirably. It blocks the wind, and from rinsing it out after a few rides, it seems that it would shed a light rain with no problem. The zippers all run very smoothly. And if conditions change, and taking off the arms isn't enough, the jacket stuffs into its own back pocket which contains an elastic waistbelt.
And what can I say about the color except that it is BRIGHT! I got the orange, which has the neon-essence of barrier flagging. And with the reflective piping (not to mention the attractive black contrasting material), 'they' won't be able to say they didn't see you!
If I had any complaint with this jacket, it would be that it is what it is - a jacket. It is not a form-fitting layer that cuts through the air without a ripple. Arm-material flapping on the downhill will occur. Peloton-boys need not apply. For the rest of us, this is a wonderful piece of cycling clothing that will be useful throughout the year.

Fits, works and is bright enough so car drivers have no excuse not to see me. Sleeves zip off to make a vest.
The not warm isn't really a con, after all it is just a shell.
I like it.

I like everything about it except: The main zipper is difficult to zip all the way up at once without getting the fly out of the way, mostly just annoying. Also, the sleeve zippers are coming off the sleeve at the beginning; this can be sewn, but it started happening way too soon. Worst thing is that I have emailed Canari and gotten no reply, that really discourages me from future products.

I use it on windy days because of where I live in the upper desert. Useful on days between 45-60 degrees. Roomy enough for jersey & long sleeved base layer for colder days. I agree about previous sweating comments but I open both zippers and air flows and dry out quickly. I wash it with regular wash but let it drip dry. I have owned this same jacket for over two years and still looks like new. Rip stop nylon is very durable. I use the inside pockets so I have 5 pockets total. Two straps are great to tie on the drops.

Comments about Canari Eclipse Bike Jacket - Men's:
The best feature of this jacket is the neck: the zipper is well guarded, with fleece. Your neck will never rub the zipper, and the sweat wicks off.
The worst feature is the cheap zippers: it is easy to get the sleeves off, a bit harder to get back on, but the big problem is the MAIN ZIPPER. I just pull it over my head to avoid problems I was having.
I am a female with slightly narrow hips, so it works for women also. The sleeves are nice and long for reaching the bars.
Others must work harder than I, or else I am just used to always being bathed in sweat from my metabolism, but I did not notice the moisture problems others have commented on. None here. I just zip the zip down a bit. I ride in San Francisco Bay Area so 50-70 degrees is my usage.
It has lasted a year of hard use so far, which is good for the price.

Comments about Canari Eclipse Bike Jacket - Men's:
I've used this jacket for about a year, so I've been through the 4-seasons here in Atlanta. What I like about this jacket is the visibility and the zip-off sleeves. This jacket seems to work best with the sleeves off.
The biggest issue I have with this jacket is the breathability or lack thereof when the sleeves are on in colder weather.
The vent on the back of the jacket just isn't enough and I would always be soaked with sweat. Feels more like wearing a trash bag.
I loaned this jacket to my son on a recent Metric Century and he had the exact same complaints that I've had with it.
So..... with that said.... the jacket works best/vents best with the sleeves off.
With the sleeves on, it is not breathable enough for me. I replaced the Carnari with the Gore Phantom which I am finding to be a much superior jacket for wind blocking and ventilation.

Comments about Canari Eclipse Bike Jacket - Men's:
This jacket is fantastic. I've had it for almost a year now. I generally wear it between 32-68 degrees fahrenheit. In the cold, just wearing a long sleeve t-shirt underneath is about enough for me. In warmer weather, the sleeves zip off and it makes a good light weight vest.
When it's too cold to wear alone I generally zip the sleeves off and wear it over my winter gear just for the visibility.
Shortly after I got this jacket I took a spill. I was extremely surprised to find some minor fraying and scuffing where my shoulder impacted and slid on the pavement and that's it! There was more damage to the lining, but hardly any visible outward damage. I was amazed, I thought for sure it had been reduced to rags.
I also really enjoy the butt flap in the back, and folding the jacket up into pouch form is great for those days when you're not sure whether or not you'll need a jacket and just want to stow it in your bag.
The water protection is non-existent, but I knew that before I purchased it. It is still better than nothing in a rain storm and can stand up to drizzle and sprinkles fairly well.
The only criticism that I can level toward this jacket is the zippers. They just feel a little small and cheap. I've gotten the zipper stuck several times while zipping it up. But never to the point where I couldn't easily get it free. It is nice, however that the main zipper can unzip from the bottom as well as the top, making for an easier fit and a little extra room.
Also, I machine wash and tumble dry this jacket and it has not caused any deformation or other problems.

Comments about Canari Eclipse Bike Jacket - Men's:
Overall decent warm weather jacket. Very handy in the summer because sleeves can be removed. Very bright. I live in Seattle however, it rains most of the year. This jacket is not waterproof. There is some water repellent quality when new but that is gone after a few months of use. Don't even think about re-water proofing it with the expensive wax REI sells, it doesn't work.
