As much as I'd like to support the cause of bringing economic development to one of the most disadvantaged places in the U.S., this product needs work. Despite not having any "additives" in it, it has an overprocessed texture and taste, spongy and bland. If you're expecting anything like jerky, this isn't it.

A very tasty product, that unfortunately costs over thirty dollars a pound.I bought these on sale, and at a manageable price, for the week long hike that was planned. I purchased four bags of each flavor.Personally, at the normal price, I would not have made the purchase. The flavor, and the moistness of this item makes it one of the best backpacking snacks I've had.While the Spicy flavor has a chili pepper with the word "Hot", written on it, I did not find it to be hot at all, and was wishing that the heat value were two to three times greater. It needs to be noted that I do not like very hot/spicy foods...but the "Hot", was, for me, mild. As long as the price does not deter you, this is one of the best trail snacks around.I give it minus one star for the price.

Great taste & texture. I've purchase the Tanka bars and this gives the same experience, just in smaller bite size pieces. Moist and flavorful, I enjoy the Spicey Pepper blend which adds some heat but not too much. You can read the ingredients recognizing the flavors and feel good that they are natural products and not created in a chemistry lab.
