Comments about Marmot Precip Full-Zip Rain Pants - Men's:
I use it in our weekly hikes where we gain approximately 4000 ft almost all the time. At high elevations, we have lots of snow and at lower we have lots of rain. So far, no problem at all. Kept me comfortable and dry. The zippers on the sides are covered internally and externally which was not the case for the previous version of this product (external cover). But in this version, they have closed both sides which is pretty good. The pockets are very handy and helpful during a hike. In summary, I recommend it.

Comments about Marmot Precip Full-Zip Rain Pants - Men's:
I purchased a pair of Marmot Precip full zip pants in September 2009. I use them mostly to keep me dry during my rainy bike commutes to work here in Seattle. I also use them for other outdoor activities (snowboarding, snowshoeing, XC skiing, hiking, camping, etc.) when I need something that isn't too warm or heavy. They have worked fine for me. Sure, the zippers will get stuck occasionally, but find me a zipper that doesn't. Not a big deal at all. You'd have to be very nit-picky to complain about something like that, and I have not found mine to be very problematic in this sense. Regardless, these pants do let a little bit of water in while biking right where the knee bends at the zipper. I never found it to be a very big deal, however. I have not noticed the same thing happening when using them for things other than biking, but if I'm not using them for biking in the rain, I only use them for snow sports, which are a bit more forgiving in terms of resistance to water than riding in rain. Ultimately, the waterproof laminate wore away in the inseam where I sit on my bike seat. I had the same thing happen with the hood of my Marmot Precip jacket (same materials). I was able to return the pants to REI, and they gladly allowed me to exchange them for a new pair. I've owned many different brands of water proof gear over the years, and they ALL seemed to break down over time. So basically, they're good pants and I feel comfortable keeping them in my arsenal of gear.

Comments about Marmot Precip Full-Zip Rain Pants - Men's:
These pants were far more useful than I expected. I have had them for a year now, and all I can think of them is positive. I got them as hiking pants to pack with a jacket for fall and spring hikes, but I tried them as cross-country ski pants this last winter and they worked wonderfully. With a pair of long underwear, these pants are plenty warm as long as you keep moving. I even tried them out as downhill pants on a couple of the warmer powder days where I usually find myself warm. I spent an hour or more sitting in snow without getting wet, and they kept me dry during a week of solid rain at the ranch I work at. I did rip a small hole in them from sliding on my butt on gravel, my mistake no the products. A little patch and they were perfect. The full zip is a cool idea, but my only use for it is unzipping a bit when I overheat from cross-country skiing (as long as nobody is looking!!!). A bit pricy but I would buy it again.

Comments about Marmot Precip Full-Zip Rain Pants - Men's:
One of the worst pieces of gear I've ever bought. Fabric ripped almost immediately upon first use. I was out on the trail in the Himalayas for 2 months so repaired the fabric, but zipper jammed again & again, & pants didn't provide true waterproof protection.

Comments about Marmot Precip Full-Zip Rain Pants - Men's:
Good pants. Light, compact, worked in any weather.
However, the old model I have weighs 305 grams, the new one is 365 grams (that's 13 ounces not 12 like the spec says, medium, regular). That's 20% heavier for the current model. The main reason to use these was the weight, so not a good change. Hear this, Marmot?

Comments about Marmot Precip Full-Zip Rain Pants - Men's:
I purchased these pants last summer from a local outdoor retailer. I have rarely used these pants; in fact they are so new I still have yet to wash them. Recently I went on a 2 hour hike and in Oregon fashion it was raining the entire time. Back at the car I peeled off my Arc'teryx jacket to find typical dampness from trapped condensation, no big deal. On the other hand my nylon pants under my PreCip rain pants where completely soaked. It seems to me that using the descriptors "PreCip® Dry Touch Technology, Waterproof/Breathable" and "100% Seam Taped - For Full Waterproofness" are incredibly misleading and could lead to tragic situations if someone was relying on these claims to keep them dry (thus warm) for longer then a day hike.
I contacted the company directly to and received nothing but cold cocky altitudes and pre-scripted responses. Despite claiming that these pants are "full-protection rain pants" Marmot responded stating that the "Zippers are not waterproof, so water can penetrate them." The zippers are located on the outside of each leg and if one is walking even a small amount of water is likely to find its way to the zipper resulting in less then full-protection from the rain. It seems to me that claims about this product have been stretched in order to increase sales not caring about the end consumer. My biggest regret is that I did not purchase this product at REI so I can not return them and get my money back.

Comments about Marmot Precip Full-Zip Rain Pants - Men's:
Used these pants on a winter climb of MT. Washington. Started off with light mix precip that got progressivly heavier with more wind. 6 hours of snow shoeing, and then a onto the summit cone with high winds 30-50mph with gusts. Pants kept me dry and warm with only a base layer and soft shell pant on. Great Light wieght pant with full zip. Light weight material + winds + crampons = tear. A patch to keep crampons from catching would have been nice. But these are not inteneded for extreme weather, although they handeled it well. Double full zip made it easy to vent will hiking or to take on/off with boots.
