Comments about Marmot Precip Full-Zip Rain Pants - Women's:
This was a gift for my girlfriend with her matching Marmot Oracle jacket for outdoor activities in various weather. I have the men's version and a Precip jacket. The materials are great and was comfortable for hiking with rain. The swish swish noise wasn't that bad, but it was very windy with gusts 25-35 and that is probably where most of the noise came from. When paired with our Goretex boots, it feels great to start and finish a hike completely dry no matter what the weather is. I hope the material is durable, because we will be using this for all types of outdoor events. It is light enough to fold up or shove into a stuff sack and just remove it when you need it.
The only real complaint I had was putting it on in the wind, without somewhere to sit down. We were hiking over somewhat recent lava rocks and they are very sharp so sitting was not an option. Also, removing your 8-inch Goretex boots while it is starting to rain to put on pants is also difficult again, without somewhere to sit, and in 25-35 mph gusts. I thought the full zip pants would make it easier, but it was very clumsy. We unzipped the pants so the zippers were together closer to the hip area so the hole would be large enough to put the whole boot through. Zipping up the pants was an adventure because the wind was so strong it required us to help each other. I'm not sure how we would have put this on by ourselves without removing the boots, which would seem to negate buying the full zip version... I imagine if you had a log or grass to sit on, and the winds were not blowing so hard, I could simply undo the zipper, put the zipper on and zip it up, but putting the brand new pants on abrasive lava rock was not a risk I wanted to take.
However, once on, it was great and the full zip option allows lots of wind to enter the pants near the hip area to cool off your legs without allowing water in because our jackets protect this area from water. When doing this, the velco is the only thing holding the pants on, so as long as you have the right size, there is no problem. Also, as a side benefit to this, if you put the pants on over shorts or jeans, and you forgot to empty your pockets, you can still get to the pockets without removing the pants or pulling it down or shoving your hands down your pants. Big bonus. Other pants may have a zippered access to allow for this, I recommend getting this or one that has this as a feature.
Fit-wise, she is 5'4", 115lbs, the Small size fit well. Like most over-pants and rain gear, there is generous room in the seat and thighs to accomidate clothes underneath, so if worn by itself, there will be lots of space.
The zipper was a concern in terms of waterproofing, so we put the pants on and stood in the shower with the shower head blasting on high at the zipper with the flap opened for a minute or so. Water did not enter the zipper at this time, nor did it enter on our hike with strong winds and rain blowing from the back. Perhaps after wearing down some it may leak, but it did not leak during my test and our first hike. Great waterproof pants.

Comments about Marmot Precip Full-Zip Rain Pants - Women's:
I have worn these in the rain a few times, both times legs stayed dry. I do not expect them to be 100% rain proof. I like to take them on backpack trips where weight is key. Plus, the full leg zipper permits ease of use getting on and off, allowing for boots to stay on the feet. I wore them in winter environments (hiking...not skiing) on a couple of occassions, one of which weather was close to 0 degrees. These pants as an outer shell to long underwear and hiking pants kept my legs warm and comfortable. Only thing that could make these pants even better is to be fully waterproof but yet stay lightweight which I don't know if that is even possible.
