Comments about Marmot Precip Full-Zip Rain Pants - Women's Short:
I have had the Precip pants for a year now. I wore them on a trip up Kilimanjaro and on several other multi-day backpacking trips, and I run in them all the time. I'd describe my relationship with them as love/hate.
What I love: They're super breathable, which makes them great for any activity where you'll be working hard and sweating. I have another (lighter) pair of wind pants that don't breath half as well.
In the beginning, they were also quite waterproof, until ...
What I DON'T love: Durability is a serious issue with Precip. It seems like I can't even sit down on a rock to take a rest without putting a hole in the butt of these things. They also started wearing out between the thighs and knees fairly quickly.
Fit is another serious problem. They run super small, especially in the waist. I'm a size 8 and the medium is tighter than I would like. Because they're small, it's hard to layer underneath them.
Also, I'm 5'2" (arguably pretty short) and the petite is about an inch too short for me. When I bend my knees, they rise over my boots.
I can see these working well for someone who uses them occasionally during camping or travel, but they definitely don't hold up during backpacking, running and other activities. For my next pair, I think I'll be going back to GoreTex or a higher durability fabric.

Comments about Marmot Precip Full-Zip Rain Pants - Women's Short:
I just bought these so this review will just be about the fit and appearance. I'll try to update it after a few uses.
I am thankful to find an affordable pair of rain pants with full side zips. I'm 5'1" and the petite small is just the right length with an inseam of 28". This is, of course, essential with pants that can't be hemmed. If you like to wear your pants low on the hip, you can probably get at least another inch of length out of the fit.
BUT, the pants are tight in a butt-flattening kind of way. I am a size 6 and weigh 125. I wish they were just a bit looser in back to allow for bending without being too tight. I tried them on over yoga pants. Maybe they will fit better over long underwear, bike shorts, or running tights.
The size medium were baggy in the front and back and also too long. I might be able to deal with one of these but all things considered, I had to go with the size small. If you are both short and slender, the small or extra small may work for you.
I'll be using these for Search & Rescue so after a few days or nights in the rain, I'll know more about their breathability on a strenuous hike.
