Osprey Ariel 65 is a lightweight women's mountaineering pack for backcountry trips. It features a short torso and a custom-moldable hipbelt.

  • Top-loading pack shaves weight; features lightweight, yet tough, 210-denier high-tenacity double-ripstop nylon
  • AirScape Suspension uses peripheral rods, a nubbed foam back panel and an internal framesheet
  • Running down the sidewall, the peripheral rods anchor to load lifters and hipbelt, actively transferring load and resisting sag
  • Providing superior load support is the women's IsoForm CM (custom moldable) hipbelt, formed of dual-density foam and designed to fit female hips
  • Osprey certified custom molding is available in most stores—check your local REI store for a custom hipbelt molding oven
  • ErgoPull hipbelt closure enhances cinching, drawing tension along top and bottom—not through the center—relieving hipbone pressure
  • IsoForm dual-density foam harness with Spacer Mesh promotes airflow and wicks away moisture during warm weather and intense activity
  • Externally accessible bottom compartment accommodates all types of sleeping bags
  • Top pocket can be removed and converted into a lumbar pack; IsoForm hipbelt on pack can be removed and slid onto lumbar pack for carrying comfort
  • Dual-entry side mesh pockets keep essentials at hand, and built-in front mesh pocket accepts Osprey Excessories for added capacity
  • Front compression wings compress the contents of the pack, whether full or nearly empty, without sag or load distortion
  • Ski straps, ice axe tool loops, sleeping pad straps and extendable lid accommodate a variety of alpine gear
  • HDPE framesheet and single aluminum stay protect back from bulky or pointy items and support heavy loads
  • Hydration-compatible design features reservoir sleeve and dual drink tube exit port for on-the-go hydration (reservoir sold separately)

    Comments about Osprey Ariel 65 Pack - Women's - '09 Closeout:

I have this pack and my hubby has the men's version. The packs are comfortable and distribute weight well. I really like the lumbar pack feature too. We took new hikers out last weekend and we were able not only to carry some of our friend's gear in addition to our own, but my husband was able to strap our friend's pack to the back of his. The pack is easy to adjust and there are plenty of straps to add gear to the outside of the pack. My only dislike of the pack is that there aren't small zipper pockets on the hip-belt (or anywhere on the pack. Otherwise it's great.
