Comments about Pearl Izumi Elite Thermal Bike Shoe Toe Covers:
Was looking for some toe covers to take the edge off the cold weather on my Sidi shoes (size 47 shoe with L/XL toe cover)
These are the only ones that I could find to fit, and leave space for the mountain bike SPD cleats. Note that it's a tight fit, so if you have bulky MTB shoes, maybe you should check in store whether these will go over, the Sidi's have quite a sleek road-like profile.
Hard work to get on without a loop, though rolling it back helps.
Wonder how durable they will be, but didn't budge on 10 mile ride.

Comments about Pearl Izumi Elite Thermal Bike Shoe Toe Covers:
I bought these to replace an old pair (Sidekick). They were "thermal elite" by name. I wear an 8 1/2 shoe. I ordered the L/XL size. When I opened the package and started to put them on the bike sandal - no way.
My wife's shoes are even smaller, and they would not go on hers either.
They might offer a bit of wind protection, but for colder weather - useless!!
I doubt they would last even one season. Way over priced, and the most flimsy toe cover I have ever seen (avid biker, all seasons, for over 40 years).
Look for something else - warning!!!!!!!!!! REI was good at taking them back.
They should drop this item for sale. I have never been so unhappy with any
thing I have ever bought to write a review.

Comments about Pearl Izumi Elite Thermal Bike Shoe Toe Covers:
Not recommended. I bought these (for mountain biking) and after a 6 mile ride I had a quarter size hole worn into the bottom of one cover. They may stop a little wind but in my optinion are a complete waste. I emailed Pearl and showed them a photo of the hole. Their response was "it is meant for road shoes with external cleats so the cover doesn't hit the ground."
Read the description... thats how it is described.

Comments about Pearl Izumi Elite Thermal Bike Shoe Toe Covers:
I got these because I ride to work 5 days a week, and in Portland it rains 4/5 days in winter. They do a great job keeping out the water that used to come straight through the top ventilation of my road shoes. In that regard they work great, my feet now stay dry(er).
The problem is, they slide back until they hit the clips and make it hard to clip in and out. I have to pull it on, clip in, and then hope I don't get stopped at lights, where I would have to readjust to clip in again. I have SPD clips and Pearl Izumi Select road shoes. Also, I have m424 pedals (has a cage for when I ride w/ out shoes) so I'm sure that is a contributing factor.

Comments about Pearl Izumi Elite Thermal Bike Shoe Toe Covers:
toggled between giving these 2 or 3 stars. Gave them 3 because i do feel these give decent insulation - to a point. under 40 degrees, and they are not that effective.
Biggest problem - after only a handful of rides, the material on the bottom by the cleat hole got real frayed and kinda torn up. They don't seem to hold up real well in rough New England late falls/winters.

Comments about Pearl Izumi Elite Thermal Bike Shoe Toe Covers:
I wore these today for the first time in weather in the 40's (I just started riding this past Spring). Normally, my toes go cold tingly in anything under 55 deg and I had no issues today. I did buy a L/XL even for my ladies 8.5/39 shoes so they definitely run small. These went on no problem, slid over my spd cleats without issue and stayed put. They did not interfere with clipping in/out at all. Since I've only used them once, I can't comment on their long term durability. I guess for the price, if they last a season or two, I'll be happy.

Comments about Pearl Izumi Elite Thermal Bike Shoe Toe Covers:
I generally fit medium, but needed a L/XL for this product. I've had a pair of these toe warmers for about 9 months now. They still fit well, though each is now ripped near the toe where I push off.

Comments about Pearl Izumi Elite Thermal Bike Shoe Toe Covers:
I was really excited about these shoe covers after one too many mornings dethawing my toes in the shower... but these were unfortunately only a minor improvement. First off, I'm a women's 8.5, so I anticipated a s/m would be a perfect fit, however I could not put the covers on my shoes while my feet were in them, and even then stretching the cover around my shoe was a challenge. Once they were on, I was impressed by the fact that they did not interfere with my shimano SPD clips, however they weren't half as warm as I was hoping they'd be, and although my toes weren't totally numb, they were still quite chilled. They're going back to REI to try out another pair.
