Bought this pack for my Great Dane to use while we're out hiking and backpacking. It's about time he carries his own food & water.

Initial Impressions:
-Adjusts easily; buckles lock in place.
-Balances well on dog's back; secure fit.
-Large storage areas; convenient expansion zippers & compression cords.

Overall, this seems like a nice pack that will accommodate all the dog supplies necessary for even a lengthy backpacking trip. Great that this large pack is the same price as the medium and small sizes!

Will follow-up with comments on product durability and field testing.

I purchased this pack for my 130lb Great Dane. The pack is super adjustable and fits him well. He usually carries his own water, emergency blanket, extra leash, etc. One issue is that the straps are not covered w/fleece or any other non-abrasive surface, so after a long hike my dog is sometimes red under his front legs. May not be an issue for long haired dogs, but could irritate dogs w/short or sensitive skin.

I recently bought this pack for a puppy german shepard. She put it through some trials over Thanksgiving weekend. Everyone on the camping trip was amazed at how well the pack stayed centered even while running, rough housing with the other dog, and swimming. She dove into several pond and submerged. We were very amazed that the inside of the pack just got a little damp. The product is only resistant to water, but it really resisted. The expanding pockets and the quick release handle to short leash is awesome!As my brother in law said " this is fancier than some human packs."

We have a 65 pound lab/English pointer mix, and the large was definitely way too big. Returned it for the medium, and it fits him...with the straps as tight as they'll go. Overall the pack is made well, the padded straps did not create any hot spots under the arms or chest, even with his short fur. Our dog seemed to like it, he definitely wasn't slowed down on our hike lol.

I believe everyone carries their own, and that applies to my 5 yr old lab! This pack is great for her gear including food, water, flexible bowl. You do need to be sure and pack equal weight on both sides otherwise the pack tilt to one side. Love the big strap handle on top,makes it easy to grab or pick her up when necessary. Highly recommend this pack!
