I just purchased the Marmot Furlong jacket a few weeks ago and it's quickly becoming my favorite winter jacket on days when the temperatures are in the 30s and 40s. It's a great layering piece and fits really well. I love the fur hood and I can't wait to wear it on blustery, cold days. I'm also looking forward to trying out this jacket for spring skiing. I'm very happy with my purchase and with REI's customer service in helping me to pick out this product.

My daughter bought herself this jacket at the REI main store while we were visiting relatives in Seattle over Christmas. Although I was ultimately unable to decide on a coat for myself (which I had been waiting to buy for a year, from the time I knew we would be visiting Seattle) due to the huge selection at REI (I was on the verge of a nervous breakdown at the end, in fact, despite useful, professional and friendly help from REI staff) my daughter found her coat in a few minutes and is happy with it.

The pictures online for this jacket really do not do it justice. I found this jacket in the store and had to have it! I was looking into getting another Northface, but to me this jacket is much more stylish than the northface with fur hoods. This jacket could be great for casual and also could be dressed up with boots,etc. The fur is very soft and classy looking. One thing I would note is that it does run a bit small. I have long arms and a chest - usually order a Medium in most things but ended up with a Large in this jacket to ensure comfortable zipping. It's a great value for the sale price that is currently running on it!

I absolutely love this jacket. I've had the black one for 2 years now and I wear it more than any other coat. It's the perfect travel jacket - lightweight enough to wear up to 65 degrees, warm enough to 45 degrees. The hood is beautiful, flattering when up or down, and makes this sporty jacket look almost dressy. While I don't know if it's technically waterproof, it's fantastic in the rain because the large hood really keeps your head dry. I brought it to San Francisco last year in January and it was ideal - I could layer a thick sweater under it and stay warm, or unzip it with the hood down as it heated up during the day. Doesn't wrinkle when packed and washes wonderfully (just remember NOT to dry it as the fur is not removable!). I can't say enough good about this coat - this may sound silly, but it makes you look pretty as soon as you put it on. The fit is really flattering - it is cut close to the body. No zipper problems here as mentioned by previous reviews. Best investment I've made in clothing.

I LOVE this jacket, the hood makes it extremely cute & my head stays so warm. I normally wear a LG & sometimes MED so I was a bit surprised that I had to get an XL. The LG fit me 'ok' but the chest area was a little too tight. Seems this brand runs small on me. I say order up a size so that layering underneath is easy ;).

This is not the quality I expect from Marmot or REI.
I would have paid full price for this jacket because of its beautiful fake fur hood (which actually stays on), and stylish look. Loved it! Feel so disappointed! I bought it in white a few days ago on sale, but the zipper popped after 3 days of wearing it very casually in a mild Arizona winter. The first times it popped I managed to zip it down and up again. The third time I left it popped to wiggle out of it to show to the store when I made the return. The jacket was not too small for me - thought about that. HIgh quality coat brought down by cheap zipper. Please try again next year!

Marmot makes great jackets but the real selling factor for this one is the hood with its wonderfully soft and warm lining. It kept my head toasty warm on the coldest and windiest Eastern WA winter days. No need for a hat anymore! With a fleece underneath I was able to stay satisfactorily warm under most conditions.

The only (tiny)issue I found with this jacket is that in wet snow or rain the "fur" around the edges of the hood is not particularly attractive. It does however dry to look good as new. Not a deal breaker for me by any means.
