Comments about Lowepro Versapack 200 AW Camera Pack:
LowePro is the best in my opinion. This bag has so much potential.
But the designers at LowePro always have to do one thing extra either stylistically or functionally to blow it. The bottom compartment is fine. But why is the top compartment covered with a big cape like flap? I guess they see that as a kind of rain cover (even though it also comes with one) but two things make it a hassle. You can't just unzip the top to get at stuff, you have to unhook the flap then unzip. Also, under that flap, but not in the zippered compartment, is an area for phones, pencils, MONEY, and PASSPORTS. But if you are traveling you *know* stuff will come flying out of that unzipped area on buses, trains, planes, etc. This is not good. The whole top storage should either be under a zipper or, if it is not in the top main zip area, be in its own outer zippered pocket.
The Orion DayPack series lacks the cape like flap to get in the way. But it too has one annoying issue (in service to the "style" of the pack): the top compartment, while fully zipped, is too small to hold one of those big water bottles you often carry around while traveling. But I would still recommend the Orion DayPack 200 or similar models over this one. (REI used to carry an earlier version of the Orion DayPack.)
So the Versapack 200 is a good pack for photographers, if you can live with the cape and function flaws on it.

Comments about Lowepro Versapack 200 AW Camera Pack:
This camera bag gives you the best of camera back packs and sling bags. It has two main straps plus a waist strap for carrying a lot of load, and can be used as either a left hand or right hand sling bag.
The top compartment is good for non camera items: snacks, guides, small clothing items, gps. It has two zippers so when I need easy access I locate them both on one side and its easy to grab what you need and re-zip; but when I need security (urban areas, airports) I locate them in the middle of the flap.
It has two side access panels in the lower camera compartment so you can set it up for easy access if you are a left or right handed. I am right handed so I carry it as a sling on my left side, and access my DSLR with my right hand. I also set up the other side panel to easily access my additional lenses, compact camera, and or accessories.
No camera bag is perfect, sometimes I wish it would carry more, but then it would get too heavy.
