Polartec Power Dry utilizes 2 different yarns on either side of the fabric to enhance comfort: interior yarn wicks moisture, and exterior yarn dries quickly
The combination of the 2 yarns helps keep you dry during highly aerobic activities because it moves moisture away from skin faster than single-component fabrics such as cotton
Flatseam construction is soft and non-chafing next to skin, and seams are designed to work with pack straps at shoulders

Comments about REI Midweight Polartec Power Dry Crew - Men's Tall:

Last weekend I gave this Polartec shirt a workout. It felt a little small (XL/tall) when I first tried it on but then I realized that a base layer needs to be close to the skin to be most effective. Was it ever....! I climbed Carter Dome in NH white Mountains. Weather was 40 degrees to start which was a nice treat on new years day 2012! However afer about 3000 feet, weather became overcast and windy with a light snow. I was only wearing this Polartec and a Mountain Hardwear Goretex shell. Also carrying about a 40lb pack so that helped insulate my back! Amazing warmth. Absorbed sweat and dried quickly at the Carter notch hut. I slept in it that night and returned the next day with 20 degree temps, a little snow and high winds (this time I added a 200 weight fleece but this was only necessary for the first 15 minutes). Fantastic base layer. Will certainly buy again. My wife purchased at REI before our trip and she mirrors my thoughts. For the price you can't go wrong.
