Frosty days call for the REI Generator Down vest. Wear it as either an inner layer beneath your shell or as your outer layer when the temps aren't so brutal.

Low-bulk 550-fill-power goose down insulation is warm, lightweight and compressible; quilted stitching keeps down from shifting
Soft Ecosensitive™ polyester taffeta shell with a Durable Water Repellent finish resists water; downproof lining keeps the down inside where it should be
Durable Water Repellent finish fends off light rain showers and snow; shell is also windproof to 50 mph
Interior wind flap, stretch collar binding and hem drawcord seals in warmth; chin guard protects from zipper abrasion
Includes 2 zippered hand pockets and 2 inner mesh stash pockets
Snap-in compatible: use the Generator Down vest as a warm liner in the REI Switchback parka, sold separately

Comments about REI Generator Down Vest - Men's:

Usage: Have been wearing mine daily for nearly 3 weeks. During this time, the temp has ranged from ±20 to ±40.

Pros:
- plenty warm and it stops the wind
- generous interior pockets
- draw sting at bottom hem helps seal cold out
- length is good; cut longer over butt
- good value for the money

Cons:
- some quills poke through the fabric; though this may be the norm for down garments.
- I gave it 4 stars as it lacks 2 things I'd like: i) interior vest pocket and ii) 2-way zipper.
