I'm very impressed with the Kestrel 2500. It is a very well designed and manufactured device. The controls are simple to learn. The temperature reading is fairly quick to settle on a value. The barometric pressure and altitude settings take a little more work to understand, but once you get it, it will all make sense. The manufacturer's website has a great tutorial on this subject. My only complaint is that the lengthy lanyard is sealed into the unit, so it is not removable. I'm sure I can learn to live with it. I'm looking forward to many years of use of my Kestrel.
