Of the three smartwool sock styles I bought at REI, these are my favorites. I love the classic colors, and they stay up on my calves well all day (I have 13.5" calves and am 5'6"). They don't make my feet sweat, and even after wearing them all day in tall dress boots (which included some walking), my feet didn't stink! The heels do have some tiny pills forming after one wear, and I'm curious to see how long they last. In any case, I think they are ALSO well-deserving of their unique niche in my sock drawer.

I have these in both colors. The green I've had longer, and the only sign of wear they show is a bit of pilling where they snagged on some velcro in the dryer. Otherwise, they look and fit like new, despite hard wear. I love the feeling of support they provide my feet through their contouring.

These are my go-to socks for riding. They keep my feet warm in cool weather with minimal bulk under boots or breeches, and stay in place without sagging. I've got 14" calves and am 5'10", and the Mediums, fit perfectly under half-chaps and stay in place while both riding and hiking. They are slim enough that they will fit under dressier type boots to wear to work or out to dinner.

Warm and versatile! My only wish is that they came in more colors so I could buy more of them.
