Comments about Patagonia Capilene 3 Long Underwear Bottoms - Women's:
Expensive, but worth it. My previous pair lasted about 6 years with almost daily winter use.

Comments about Patagonia Capilene 3 Long Underwear Bottoms - Women's:
I have been wearing Patagonia Thermals for Fifteen Years now and can say,"In Alaska they are of Ultimate Necessity".No longer do I have to double up my thermals on very cold days.I just choose the right weight for the weather and activity, then away I go.These Capilene 3's are perfect for colder days with limited exercise, but will breathe and wick well in a back and forth highly active environment also.I'm sure you will be pleased, especially if you try all the other Patagonia Thermal weights so you'll know which weight suits the upcoming day.Keep On Hikin' and Bikin'.P.S.the wasteband works just fine!!

Comments about Patagonia Capilene 3 Long Underwear Bottoms - Women's:
These just did not fit. The rise was too small. The waist band did not stay in place. The pants didn't have the stretch I was hoping for. They were constrictive in places. Sadly these went back.

Comments about Patagonia Capilene 3 Long Underwear Bottoms - Women's:
This is my second pair of long underwear bottoms from the capaliene series by Patagonia. First thing to be aware of: Patagonia runs large. If you think you're a small, you're an extra small, etc. I'm an athletic 5'4 and the extra small fits like paradise. They are super flexible and easy to move around in and keep your legs toasty when trudging through slushy snow (worn under my shell pants). I would also like to note that the Ozonic Crossdye color is also fantastic. When we took a break after descending the peak, I took a moment to change out my socks and the moment I removed my gators to see the vibrant color it reminded me that even though I was exhausted from the day I'm still a girl underneath.
These base layer bottoms are your cold weather friends, just take the time to size yourself correctly.

Comments about Patagonia Capilene 3 Long Underwear Bottoms - Women's:
I researched for days on end...
"What is THE BEST mid-weight base layer bottoms for women on the market?" I asked myself. Then I found the Patagonia Capilene series.
"Great!" I thought.
And I purchased a pair of these Capilene 3 (3=midweight on Patagonia's Cap. series rating system, means medium-high activity, moderate temperatures...the most versatile, they say, and I agree). I also bought the matching top with a neck zipper which is wonderful. But the base-layer pants don't cut it. I got a Small which fit snug, but they kept slipping down! So I thought, "it could just be my bootay," so I went back to get a Medium.
"Ahh, much better."
But then I wore them consistently over the next month and oh man does that band not stay in place! The mediums fit well, are breahtable, warm, and seemingly quite durable material, but I have to pull them up over my belly button to get them to stay up. The pants' band is advertised as "next-to-skin," but it has no grip on my body and my panties are showin' all over the place. I'm glad I tried them out for a long while before I hit Wyoming for a 40-day wilderness expedition this summer! I'm gonna exchange them and get me a pair of Smartwool base layers, which have a much more substantial band. What good is a warm, breathable, etc.etc. base layer if you have to reach down through your other layers and pull it up every 50 steps?
These pants are a great idea, but they don't stay UP.
The long sleeve base layer shirts (same material, product line), however, are fabulous and very warm...but the pits get a little stinky, aint gonna lie. That's just a chemical issue though. I rarely wear deodorant, so it's my fault.
Hope that helps! If you really wanted a pair, just go to the store and find your fit, then run around the store a few times and do some bending/squatting without touching them...you'll see what I mean. Just make sure your crack doesn't show. ;)
