Comments about REI Timber Mountain 3-in-1 Jacket - Boys':
I wish I would have read the other reviews before I paid close to full price for this jacket. We had the jacket for over a month with my son wearing it every day and having gone through 5 washes. #1, as others have said, the zipper is HORRIBLE. Too small and cheap for this type of jacket. It is also too small for younger children to get started and zip themselves. The zipper seperates easily when zipped up, causing you to have to pull it up over your child's head to get it off. It is very hard to get the zipper seeded again. I spent 10 minutes in the rain trying to fix the zipper in front of our school. The zipper seperated several times before, but this time, the last 1/4 of an inch at the bottom was off and not even and would not catch at the bottom to release the zipper and open the jacket. Unacceptable. I finally got it fixed but thought I was going to break the teeth off. I don't think the jacket can take another one of those. Otherwise, the jacket appears well built and would probably last a few seasons. They really should have used a fat hard plastic zipper much like the one that zips in the fleece to the jacket. If I could get my money back at this point, I would....My only other complaint is the hand pocket openings and pocket themselves seem too small and oddly cut forward. My son doesn't like using them. Too small for gloves. There is a small external chest pocket that would hold an ipod or phone, also too small for gloves or a beanie. A large zippered inner pocket on the jacket or fleece for secure storage of gloves or a beanie would be nice. The velcro circles for securing the front flap should really be snaps. This would help out when the zipper malfunctions or breaks, at least you could still wear it and close it up if needed. MADE IN CHINA.

Comments about REI Timber Mountain 3-in-1 Jacket - Boys':
My son really loves the look and fit of this coat and it's been very warm and comfortable for him when in mountain snow (even wet Northwest snow). Also he loves the fleece liner that works well as a stand-alone jacket (nice seam lines add a bit of style; nice brown color with a hint of gray to it). However, he's had it for just a couple months and is experiencing chronic zipper issues per the other reviewer's notes. When he zips it, it appears snug and good but comes unzipped quickly (loosens from the bottom, with zipper pull up top). Not a good issue to have when out in the cold snow! We'll try returning/exchanging.

My son loves this coat and loves putting it on. The coat is a little big for his 5 year old frame, but we bought him a 6/7 and he now has room to grow. We have not had trouble with the zipper like with the other review. We think this is a very nice coat and we haven't had any problems with it.

We did have trouble with the zipper on occasion with last year's model of this jacket. However, our guy was always able to correct it on his own. We did end up returning it and the replacement is terrific. We've had no trouble. He really likes this jacket and stays warm. It is versatile as the zip out fleece looks great and is perfect for warmer winter weather or just headed to school.

I recently purchased this jacket for my 10 year old son who fell in love with it at the store. The coat has kept him warm and dry in the morning on his way to school. He has enjoyed the versatility of the jacket and will often remove the shell in the afternoon when the weather is warmer. The jacket seems to be holding up well to his abuse and has no signs of wear.

Comments about REI Timber Mountain 3-in-1 Jacket - Boys':
I always like to buy REI brand items, thus I decided to buy my son the REI Timber Mountain 3-in-1 Jacket. I like that it is a 3 in 1 jacket, which makes it very versatile. With that being said, the only problem I had was with the zipper. The zipper would not seed properly and would consistently separate. I thought my son was not zipping it properly, until I started to zip it for him. It still came unseeded.
The fact is that REI makes great products aside from zippers!
Thinking that it was an isolated incident, I returned the jacket and got another one. Same issue.
