Ripstop polyester shell with Deluge® Durable Water Repellent is soft, water resistant and highly breathable for backcountry adventures
All exterior zippers are treated with a Deluge Durable Water Repellent finish for water resistance and quick drying
2-layer polyester waterproof panels on shoulders resist abrasion and prevent wet-through
Insulated with polyester (90% recycled) insulation for lightweight, compressible warmth even when damp; quilted construction reduces bulkiness
Patagonia Rubicon Rider jacket has a smooth polyester lining that glides easily over underlayers and dries quickly when wet
Removable, helmet-compatible, adjustable hood allows natural neck mobility and peripheral vision; fleece-lined collar eliminates zipper rub and enhances comfort
Pit zippers provide ventilation to help keep your body temperature regulated; articulated sleeves increase mobility
Features twin handwarmer pockets and a zippered chest audio pocket; interior pockets include a zip stash pocket and an open stash pocket
Adjustable, removable powder skirt helps to seal out snow; webbing loops connect to compatible ski and snowboard pants, sold separately
Drawcord hem with cordlocks seals out drafts and adjusts via the front pockets; rip-and-stick cuffs adjust comfortably around wrists

I rarely review products, but I have to say this is the best winter coat I have ever owned. I live in Chicago and grew up in upstate NY so I know a little something about being cold, shoveling snow and beating the hell out of winter clothing. This coat is incredibly light, very comfortable, durable and it looks great. Both REI and Patagonia are companies that stand by their products. I've owned my Rubicon for 2 winters now and I love it so much that I'm thinking about picking up a second color. All winter long I walk to work and I have no complaints.

I was waiting O-so-patiently for the perfect winter coat and bought this on sale! It is beyond what I expected. I usually wear a sweater under my jackets when I go snowboarding and I wore a lightweight jacket under this one and was sweating. I can't wait to try some mountain climbing with this jacket: It is seriously warm. Also, it doesn't say that it's waterproof but light showers do shed off easily as far as I've noticed. It's synthetic anyways, but I may add some nikwax in the picture just to be sure it withstands our mountain rains. Very comfortable as well. I usually wear a large or medium large but bought this in a medium and it fits perfectly! Patagonia is the way to go (first time buyer but future lasting costumer).
