Comments about Big Agnes Fairview 3 Tent - Special Buy:
First time I used the tent it rained very hard. It was waterproof for the most part but not 100%. My sleeping bag that touched one of the sides got wet. Water also collected outside the tent between the tent and rainfly.
My biggest complaint about the tent is the location of the door. You can only lay one way in the tent or otherwise it is too short. When there are two people in the tent the person furthest from the door has to stumble and crawl over the person closest to the door to get out. I now wish I had bought a tent with two doors or considered the door location when buying the tent.
I have not yet taken this tent on a backpacking trip yet but so far I like my older tent that always kept me dry and lasted for ten years before I had any issues with it better.
I will say that the tent is roomier than my last tent and the extra space is nice.

Comments about Big Agnes Fairview 3 Tent - Special Buy:
good price for a great tent, but I should have paid attention to the previous reviews- I'm 6'1", and barely fit lying down in this tent. with a sleeping bag, my head/feet touch the walls of the tent if sharing the tent w/ someone. If going solo, I can sleep diagonally which is very comfortable, but since I usually camp w/ others, this tent won't work for me. Tent is light, easy to set up and well made. I give 4 stars because I wish they would make the tent about 6-12 inches wider.

This is a great tent! We have used it on State land a few times now and we have been very pleased. It's a breeze to set up (about 5 minutes) and is constructed of very high quality materials. Night time temps have been in the low to mid 30's and we have stayed dry and warm. The door is easy to operate and the vestibule has enough room for gear for the night. I'm 5' 8" and have plenty of room but someone 6 feet or more may have to squeeze. Bottom line, this is a great light tent from Big Agnes!

We have used this tent now on state land a few times. It has kept us comfortable and dry every time. Night time temps have been in the low to mid 30s and the heat it holds in is commendable. A breeze to set up, two people can pitch and be inside in less than 5 minutes. I am 5'8" and I have plenty of room but could see someone who is 6 foot having to squeeze a bit. It's light, constructed VERY well and the door and vestibule are a breeze to operate and use. Big Agnes definitely knows how to make a tent.

I was looking for a replacement tent for my older REI half dome which weighs quite a bit compared to some of these newer tents. I initially looked at the Big Agnes Copper Spur 3 tent because of it's low weight and high rating, but this puppy is a whole lot less $ and does not weigh all that much more than the CS3. I figure that with the extra $300+ bucks i saved, i could live with just over that extra pound of weight. After the tent arrived i was very impressed by the simplicity and quality of the tent. This is no bargian basement tent, but a good quality piece of gear that will last a long time. Intuative to set up. No tricky short poles or oregami attachment methods, just two of the same size poles that cross one another and attach to the tent with clips, stake it out and you are done. I like the slight added privacy of the FV3 over the CS3 in that the mesh top is not as extensive. All in all an excellent tent, well made, easy to set up and an overall great bargian for the price! Of course this tent would be very cramped with 3 people, but it makes a really nice tent for 2 persons and their gear. The included stakes are your typical wimpy aluminum wire types. I replaced mine with some MSR ground hogs and am very pleased. Couldnt be happier.

Comments about Big Agnes Fairview 3 Tent - Special Buy:
I'm a 'returning' camper after a 5-year hiatus. The kids are grown and, becoming a midlife single, I realized I missed camping but had never camped on my own. The Fairview 3 made my first solo trip to the Oregon Coast a real confidence booster. It's easy to set up, comfortable and, I have to say, makes me look like a rad, know it all outdoors babe (I am exaggerating a bit about the babe stuff). The interior footprint of the FV3 is about the size of a generous queen size bed, making it comfortable for me, my pack and two family canines. The rainfly and vestibule are a real plus for stashing shoes and flip flops. When it's all zipped up the FV3 looks so cozy that Westy campers are jealous that they're not tent camping (I may be exaggerating a bit again). And the orange aluminum tent stakes are so easy: put 2 together, make an x and the tent is up in less than 10 minutes the first time and down in -5 minutes by myself. The zippers are smooth and quiet and easy to operate with ONE hand. It's well ventilated and adjustable thanks to two dormer-type roof vents you can open and close depending on the weather. Considering this is a special buy, this is a quality find. Thank you, Big Agnes, for reviving my explorer spirit.

I used this tent for backpacking trips near the coast. Although camping condition has always been windy and damp, this tent has kept me very dried an comfortable. It is also very easy to set up. The only problem I have with this is its length. A six feet tall person will barely fit in here.

Comments about Big Agnes Fairview 3 Tent - Special Buy:
My sons and I needed a 3-person tent for modest backpacking trips. In addition to the price, I liked the fact that the pack size was only 18 inches long and the weight was under 6 lbs. I figured we could squeeze 3 of us in. However, the tent is not quite long enough for me. I am 6'2" and have a Big Agnes sleeping bag with inflatable pad. According to the specs, the tent is 84 inches long. However, it lifts up on both sides a couple of inches when you set it up. As a result, my sleeping pad made contact with both ends of the tent. We tried it out in good weather but I don't think it will work for more inclement conditions. Will probably return and get a 4-person tent.
The tent was very easy to set up (it's just got two crossing poles) and the door zipper is great. Easy to open and close quickly.
I think if you are under 6 feet tall, this is a great 2 person tent, or 3 if you are backpacking with your kids.

This seems to be a great deal for the price and space if you're looking for a 3 person tent. I called BA and they said this tent was made for strickly for a REI promotion. I thought it was heavy at first, but after weighing, it was only 1/4 lb heavier than my 2 person Half Dome. I've not used it yet, but my only concern is that with the fly, there's not much ventilation. Condensation could be an issue, but until I have a chance to use, I don't know for sure.
