Comments about Big Agnes Fairview 2 Tent - Special Buy:
Since there is very little information available online and few reviews of these tents, I thought I would share my opinion. Things you can't tell from the images, there are actually two vents at the top of the fly, and though not a true vestibule, there is a little bit of room under the fly on the non-door side of the tent that will provide a little cover for something small, some firewood or whatever gear that you don't plan on getting into during the night. It seems really well built and structurally sound. Not very complicated and easy to set up. With the fly and footprint, it can be set up ultralight, but the footprint is flat, not a bathtub style. Also, though the tent body itself is freestanding, to get the fly taut and get the floor spread out properly, you need to stake things. It is lightweight and compact. Will be even more compact with a compression sack. It is a little cozy ( not bad though ) for 2 adults and gear as most tents of this type are, but I got it for backpacking so I don't need to be carrying the Taj Mahal. It's for sleeping and staying dry in. I am 6'2" and touch the body of the tent body with the foot end of my sleeping bag, but with the way the fly stakes out, I don't come close to touching it. The dimensions are spot on. I read the review on the 1 man size and was concerned about that. 52 at the head and 42 at the foot, 84 long by 40 high. l got lucky and picked this up a few weeks ago for $[$] and couldn't be happier. Can't wait to set it up at the bottom of the Grand Canyon. Happy trails to all!

Comments about Big Agnes Fairview 2 Tent - Special Buy:
This tent is advertise as 3.5 lb but actually weighs 4.5lbs. 3.5 lbs if you dont bring the poles and stakes which would not help you. Only has one vestibule and one opening so you would have to crawl over your buddy or buddet to get out. I have a old marmot titan 2 which has two vestibules and two openings and only weighs .5lbs more than this one. Weight needs to be revised and description changed. One opening and one vestibule, hard to get two backpacks into it. Who gets the wet one? This is an average tent, big Agnes usually makes above average ones but not this one.

Comments about Big Agnes Fairview 2 Tent - Special Buy:
I purchased this tent while on special along with it's companion footprint and found the purchase to be of great value.
I took the tent to the western slope of the Rocky Mountain National Park for my son's first prolonged trip to the Rockies. Being his first prolonged trip (4 days on the Tonhutu Trail to flattop Mountain) so I carried the weight of a combat load so that I could ensure his first experience was enjoyable and memorable). I have been a backpacker since my boyscout days and have had 2 combats tours as a grunt, so in the balance of comfort versus minimalist I make every reasonable effort to accommodate comfort.
The tent worked well for an average size 8 year old and my 5'10" 165 lbs body. We had ample room to move and the vestibule accommodated my ruck sack and his Osprey Talon day pack and on a 37 degree morning with heavy rain showers allowed enough room to boil water for coffee and hot cocoa.
During our August trip we had one evening of >20 mph winds and a full night and early morning rain storms, including a line of severe storms which passed through about mid-night - 1 am MDT. The tent held up well and to the wind and the rain with no leakage what so ever. The netted roof was wonderful for viewing the Leonid meteor shower from a meadow in the Cascade Falls dispersed camping area. The ventilation ports worked wonderfully as well and during the rain storm could be easily closed by reaching my hand between tent and the vestibule to close the vents.
I have used the tent solo on trips to the Ozark Highland Trail for periods of up to 5 nights and have weathered several severe thunderstorms with the same quality result.
I highly recommend this tent for anyone seeking value in a solo tent or one that can be used with an adolescent child.
Happy Trails!

Comments about Big Agnes Fairview 2 Tent - Special Buy:
I put this tent up in my back yard just to try it out and was I disappointed. the stakes are of poor quality they would bend just by pushing them into the lawn. the sleeping area I thought was way to small for two people and I did not like the way the fly worked. It lacked storage becaus there was only one entry and only one vestibule. I returned the tent.
