    Comments about Shimano Ultegra WH-6700 Wheelset:

    Very good wheels for my purposes, which is primarily commuting. I wanted a wheel with less mass than my old wheels but still relatively strong and reliable. They have a pretty low weight and are relatively stiff. I've had no problems in about one year of commuting on these, haven't needed to true them or anything (I'm under 150 pounds). The rim wall (braking surface) seems to be holding up well even with heavy down hill braking and gritty, wet commuting conditions.

    The only issue I had was trying to mount standard tires on these rims without tubes. I used Stans sealant and tried to mount some continental gatorskin folding tires and it blew off the rim at about 100 psi into my face. Only mount specific tubeless tires to these if you're going tubeless because their beads do not stretch (unlike standard tires).

    In terms of these being used for cyclocross wheels, at least the version I have ( year 2012, model 6700) will not take a tire bigger than 32mm, and even that depends on the specific tire. With larger tires you'll experience some tire rolling when cornering hard if the beads are mounted so narrowly. I'm now using 28mm tires and they work great.

      Bought these rims after my old reliable velomax rear rim failed due to corrosion and 9 years of heavy use. The wheelset performs very well, wheels true out of the box. I run them with tubes, I believe these were developed for the cyclocross crowd. The rear hub is very quiet, very nice riding. They could have made these rims with a taller more areo sidewall for looks, but the spokes are areoblade. All in all no regrets in buying these wheels
