- Injection-molded nylon and extruded aluminum frame construction is lightweight yet superstrong; molded rubber pads at contact points protect vehicle
- No Sway Cage™ anti-sway device prevents bike-to-bike contact
- Oversize, easy-to-grip ratcheting knobs make mounting and adjusting bike rack practically hassle free
- Narrow cradle arm design will accommodate most bicycle frame designs including smaller child bike frames; bike arms fold down when not in use
- Easily fits a wide range of vehicle styles: sedans, hatchbacks and minivans; compatible with most factory spoilers

We bought this rack because we wanted something high-quality that was easy to install and would carry three bikes with ease. We would have preferred to go with a hitch-mounted rack for our van but our driveway isn't hitch friendly. This rack was on the spendy side (although we bought it during a 20% off sale which helped) but it has met our needs beautifully. It is very easy to mount on the van and quick to get the bikes on - 10 minutes or less by myself from start to finish. Absolutely no issues with bikes swaying or feeling unstable. It's a little bit tricky, but even my nine-year-old daughter's bike fits on the rack. We are generally willing to spend a little extra if what we get is a higher quality product and this rack fits the bill. It also folds up great for easy storage when not in use.

I thought I did a thorough research on bike racks. Guess I didn't look hard enough.
My road and cyclocross fit well and are easy to hang. My wife's hybrid goes on. Note I have never had more than one bike on. However my greatest need is to carry my mountain bike to trail heads. My Trek Marlin 29 inch is ver difficult to load because of its geometry.and in doing it my bike has been scratched...by the plastic holders.
I got so frustrated today, I removed the rack car, where I keep it since it IS difficult and time consuming to install.

I love this bike rack. I bought it as an upgrade to an older rack I had and could not be happier with it. Getting it onto the car is very simple. Compared to the old pull straps, Thule's cranking mechanism is a breeze. The stability is better than expected for only having four attachment points, but the rack still has enough give to it to prevent the bikes from being damaged when the car hits a bump. The drop down brackets to secure the bike are also very convenient. I used to have to use 5-10 straps to secure three bikes and keep them from banging into each other, but now I just need one strap per bike (a bungee from the front to the back tire to keep the tires from rotating and the handles from turning and banging into each other).
The ease of adjustment should also be noted. Nothing needs to be tightened down or forced to get it onto or off of the car. To put it on simply lift the handle, turn to the right number, and set the handle back down. The same goes for lowering the extension on the back of the car when the rack is not in use; simply lift the lever, move the extension to the level you would like, and close the lever. After having to force my old rack to tighten this was a welcomed change. It is so easy to adjust that I usually take the rack off, fold it up, and put it in my trunk rather than leave it on my car for any extended period of time.
In my opinion this rack is well worth the extra price, as the workmanship, design, and ease of use all greatly surpass expectations.
Note: I have a Mazda 3. Thule says this rack should not be used on a Mazda 3 (likely because of the weight of three bikes on such a small car), but I have been careful and have had no problems with it.

I was worried about straps flapping in the wind, rubbing my paint. With the retractable coated cables, this will never happen! Installs, out of the box in 2 minutes. I cant even use a hammer proplerly but I put this on my car properly!!! Get this rack!

I give it a 4 as default value, because it was easy to install and had a solid feel to it, I have a Subaru Legacy 09 4DR w/ factory installed spoiler, and the rack rests on the spoiler.
Have not found a trunk rack that works and will be going with one of the Thule hitch racks.

Design with flaws: rack boasts that it can be locked by the key, but only one side of the cable has the lock. When the other side releases the cable (that can't be locked by design) the rack can be easily removed and stolen.

I WANTED A RACK THAT WASN'T GOING TO DAMAGE MY NEW CAR. THIS RACK IS EXACTLY THAT, IT FITS PERFECTLY WITH NO STRAPS WHIPPING AROUND AND ATTACHES SNUGLY TO THE VEHICLE SO IT DOESN'T MOVE BACK AND FORTH AND SCRATCH THE PAINT. ALL MY BIKES ARE EASY ON AND EASY OFF, THE LOCK ON IT IS GOOD FOR QUICK STOPS AT THE STORE OR TO GET GAS. I AM 100% SATISFIED WITH THIS PRODUCT AND WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT.

Do not use this on a 2011 volkswagon tdi hatchback (can't speak for other cars.) It was way too heavy for me to install alone, and when it was removed it the upper padding had dented the metal on my car, and the metal from the straps had left small dents and scratched the paint.
