Comments about Mammut Flight Pack - 35 Liters - '09 Closeout:
I have had this pack for several months and love it. I have taken it out on several snow shoes and winter climbs here in CO. It's the perfect size for a day out on the snow.
Has plenty of room for extra layers, plenty of loops to connect items on the outside, and fits me well.
It seems light to me and have had 30 lbs in it and it is still super comfy.
Gave it 5 stars because I can't think of anything it is missing or anything I wish it had.

I stole this pack on closeout and was so impressed with the quality of construction for what I paid. Perfect volume for a day hike. I'm a "kitchen sink" kinda guy I I had lots of room for everything I like to cary as well as multiple clothing layers just to "fill space". The frame, suspension system, and compression straps allow this to be a very comfortable and secure pack. A 3L hydration bladder fits perfectly keeping the heaviest part of the pack tucked close to your spine. There's a little built in whistle in the adjustable sternum strap. How cool is that?
I took it out for a climb up Sawtooth Peak 12,343 in Mineral King Ca. It's an all day adventure with 12-13 miles and 4500 vert. ft. I barely felt the pack the whole day even loaded with 20-25lbs of gear. If only I could not feel the altitude the same way!

Comments about Mammut Flight Pack - 35 Liters - '09 Closeout:
At first sight I thought this pack might be a little smaller than described (purchased online). I was totally wrong. I think the compact profile of the pack just makes it look smaller. Plenty of room in this pack if you loosen the straps and yet it maintains a snug, close to the body profile with good balance when loaded.
I used this pack for the first time in the Silverton CO area for a summer hike and climb and could not be happier. Holds everything you could need for a long day easily. The external attachment points work great for ax and crampons. In winter, I am sure they will work equally well with different gear combinations involving more climbing gear, snowshoes, or whatever your thing happens to be.
This pack is very adjustable and unlike another review I seem to have a mile of unused adjustability in the hipbelt if needed.
Overall I found this a very comfortable pack. I have acquired several different packs over the years and most likely so have you. The best ones seem to almost dissappear when they are on your back and you forget they are there. This is one of those packs for me, maybe for you too.
One last note. I suppose you could use this pack for an overnight but you will need to have super compact gear or a shorter list of necessities than I have. Better to move up to at least a 45 liter pack for that in my opinion.

Comments about Mammut Flight Pack - 35 Liters - '09 Closeout:
I recently bought this pack to use primarily for day hikes. Probably could be used for an overnight, if you packed light enough. I'm really impressed by the quality of this pack. Very comfortable. I like the removable foam and aluminum frame in the back. Allows you to lighten the load if you're an ultralight hiker, and also the foam section can double as a sitting pad. I have no doubts that this pack will accompany me on many outdoor adventures and take the beating probably better than I will. My only complaint is that some of the straps could be a tad bit longer. I'm 5'9" 160lbs, and I would like it if the straps on the hip belt were about 3-4 inches longer to accommodate for when I'm wearing a bunch of layers. So if you're a little bigger, then this may be a problem.

I have used this pack on several snow climbs and day hikes. This is not a day pack with just some straps hooked on to it but a full suspension system. It has the adjustments and accessories of a big pack and can be fit to any size. Very comfortable and has plenty attachments for ice axes etc. It packs big for its size. I am glad its not any bigger or I would put to much in it. Just right for carrying gear to handle any type of weather.
