Comments about Park Team Issue Bike Repair Stand:

I've been using an older Feedback Sports repair stand for over 10 years now, and it is still going strong. I've got a friend who is looking for a cheap repair stand, and that coupled with REI's anniversary sale and my annual dividend was enough to persuade me to sell him my old stand and check out the offerings available today.

I was able to get both the Park PRS-25 and the Feedback Sports Pro Elite stands for a side-by-side comparison. The good news: they are both fantastic repair stands. Feedback has really improved the clamp from the stand that I have, which was pretty good to begin with. Since the Park stand requires taking the clamp off to break down the stand, nods go to the Feedback stand for portability. I also thought that the Pro Elite was a little easier to raise and lower with the bike clamped on the stand than the PRS-25.

However, my two most important criteria for my repair stand are stability and quality of the clamp, and on both of these criteria I felt that the Park stand was better. While the Feedback stand is no doubt sexy, the Park stand has more of a burliness to it. Portable stands cannot really rival the bolt-down shop stands for stability, but the hexagonal tubes used on the PRS-25 definitely do a lot to keep things sturdy. The clincher for me though is the clamp on the PRS-25: easy to use, extremely effective and, if necessary, easy to disassemble and clean 10 years down the road (if necessary). The PRS-25 assembles and disassembles easily, and the clamp, while having to be removed to fully store the stand, easily tucks securely into the folded up stand for storage. I will say that side-by-side in my basement the PRS-25 had less flex with my 27 pound full suspension 29er clamped in it than the Pro Elite did. The Pro Elite was completely acceptable, but the PRS-25 felt a little sturdier.

You can't really go wrong with either stand. If portability were a bigger factor for me, or if I were using this stand on uneven ground more often, I might give the nod to the Pro-Elite. And given that the PRS-25 is still costs significantly more than the already pricey Pro Elite (which comes with a tote bag too) I'd have to say the Pro Elite is the better value. But since I'm viewing this as a long term investment the Park Stand wins out.
