Comments about Sawyer Jungle Juice 100 Pump Spray Insect Repellent - 98 Percent DEET - 2 fl. oz.:
I bought a bottle of this to go on a 3-day backpacking trip with two other people. We camped near a small lake, so bugs (especially mosquitoes) were pretty heavy. While I did return home with my fair share of bites, the spray was more than enough to keep most away.
That said, you have to be comfortable with various aspects of DEET to use this. Things like the greasy texture, smell, and warnings against using it on synthetic fabrics may scare some off. However, if that does not bother you, this product does the job quite nicely.

Comments about Sawyer Jungle Juice 100 Pump Spray Insect Repellent - 98 Percent DEET - 2 fl. oz.:
I bought several 2oz bottles for the entire family for our trip to South Africa. We did a week on safari in the country's malaria region so I didn't want to play around. Long story short, we survived our trip without a single insect bite amongst the 4 of us! Thru long game drives, outdoor meals & even swimming...Jungle Juice provided the ultimate protection. And since the bottle size is small, we were able to pack it in our carry-on luggage & apply the second our plane touched ground in Kruger. The only downside is the potential health risk associated with DEET. Keeping this in mind we used Jungle Juice on our generously on our clothes, a little less on our skin...very effective.

I've found this spray to be very effective, much more so than two other repellents I also purchased from REI. The spray applicator is quite handy -- in that it keeps the juice off your hands. I only knocked one star off its score since it doesn't really dry on your skin, but it remains a bit greasy. Small tradeoff, though -- I'd rather be bug free and a little tacky, than get chewed up over miles of trail. Use this stuff, and the bugs will NOT be bugging you.

Comments about Sawyer Jungle Juice 100 Pump Spray Insect Repellent - 98 Percent DEET - 2 fl. oz.:
Used the product backpacking in Sierra mtns. Applying a small amount proved to be effective and long lasting. My only quibble is that, at some point during our trip, the fine mist spray turned into more of a single-stream squirt. This could have been due to altitude, as it seemed to correct itself after we descended to lower altitudes.
Users should be aware that DEET can destroy certain materials (e.g. plastics), so keep it away from sunglasses, watches, bear canisters, etc.

This stuff works but when my head was surrounded by a cloud of flies I sprayed it all over my head and bike helmet. It got rid of the flies but My expensive bike jacket had black sticky stuff on the collar that looked like chain oil. It turned out the DEET was dissolving the styrofoam stuff of my helmet into a black sticky goo. So be aware

It works when the others don't.
I am healthy about what I apply to my skin, but I make exceptions with bug spray because the non-DEET sprays just don't work.
I use this in the Northwest during mosquito season and it works pretty well.
I have also used this in New Zealand to ward off the sandflies.
Spray bottle is easier to apply but its a little more bulky and heavier compared to the normal bottle.
I do prefer to apply it to my clothing instead of my skin (NOTE: Be careful about the material you apply it to - read the bottle for warnings). I like to spray it on my hat rather than my face, etc.

Comments about Sawyer Jungle Juice 100 Pump Spray Insect Repellent - 98 Percent DEET - 2 fl. oz.:
I generally use this product on backpacking trips but it is very useful anywhere there are harmful bugs. Just spray on a general area and rub it in. Like they say, a little goes a long way so use it sparingly. 3 people got by on one bottle for a week up in the High Sierras where there are a bugillion hawk sized mosquitoes. Its amazing, the mosquitoes literally die on contact.
Bottle comes with a screw top that we found to come in handy. When this was the only bottle of DEET and it was getting low we unscrewed the top and poured about a 1/3 to 1/2 dose of water and the product still performed extremely well.
Only complaint is I wish it would last a little longer. I find myself having to reapply every 2-3 hours.
Also, Im not sure how safe this product is but I dont know anyone who has had a bad reaction.
