      Comments about Sawyer Premium ULTRA 30 Insect Repellent Lotion - 30 Percent DEET - 3 fl. oz.:

      Pro: Keeps bugs away. I spent a week in the Peruvian Amazon and didn't get a single bite where this stuff was applied. I still got buzzed constantly, but no bites.

      Con: Within about two minutes of applying this stuff to my skin, I began to feel a burning sensation. Kind of like if I had rubbed my arms with a fresh habanero pepper. It was strong enough to be distractingly uncomfortable.

      I don't know if I'm allergic or don't react well to DEET or what, but I wouldn't recommend this product unless you're going to a place where the bugs carry REALLY nasty diseases. I'd prefer the burning feeling to yellow fever or malaria, but if I was in a place where bug bites are just an annoyance I'd go with a non-DEET forumla for sure.

      Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
