The women's North Face WindWall 2 fleece jacket drastically reduces the effects of chilling wind and traps body heat to help keep you warm.

WindWall 2™ is made from 200-weight fleece and drastically reduces the effect of windchill on cold, windy days; ideal insulation when layered
WindWall 2 fleece fabric blocks around 95% of the wind while still allowing enough airflow to ensure a dry, comfortable fit
WindWall 2 features a gridded fleece liner for even greater insulation and utilizes a unique fabric-bonding process that allows a limited degree of external air permeability
Features full-length front zipper backed by a windflap, hem drawcord and elastic-bound cuffs

I bought this jacket in August 2010 because i was planning a three day trip to Yosemite in September. It worked fantastically! Kept me very warm, even at night in my cloth sleeping bag (never bringing those sleeping bags again, haha...) when night time temps were below 30F. Now i where it all the time to school and around the house. Two things i especially like, 1) long arms, i am especially tall person and i don't have to worry about my wrists being exposed during outdoor activities. 2) Well fitted, fits close to my body and i get comments all the time about how cool it looks on me.

I also bike a lot in the morning when the sun hasn't even been up enough to warm air temps, and the only part of my torso that gets cold while wearing this jacket are my hands and my face! It is also good at beading water droplets so they are more likely to roll off the jacket then soak in.

When i initially was trying this jacket on, i was hesitant to purchase it because the inseams in the arms seemed rough or uncomfortable, but after wearing it they softened up making it one of the best jackets i have ever bought!

This jacket is really great. Love the material - very warm, stops the wind. Really like the hood addition - very warm for those windy days we get in Colorado. The sleeves are very long - they come down to my knuckles. The only thing I was disappointed about is that it is so fitted that it's difficult to layer under it. I'm 5'6" and have a small build. I almost always wear a small. The small in this jacket fits me with just a single layer underneath, but with a sweater or anything thicker, it is tight and the mobility of my arms isn't great. It's especially tight if the side pockets are zipped shut. Maybe should have gotten a medium, but they're all sold out now and can't try it.

I love this jacket! I brought it over a year ago and it is still in great condition. I have worn it camping, hiking, to school, anywhere really. Even after many times through the wash, the material still feels soft and looks good. My favorite feature is the breast pocket-so convenient for your cell phone, money, ID, etc. This is one of the best investments I've made as far as clothing purchases go.

I love this jacket. It wasn't as thick as I had expected, not like the North Face Denali, but it isn't bulky either. I am fairly average build, not large chested (or flat either), and I find this jacket to be super comfortable. I'm about 5'5" and again, average, and the medium fit me great. I can wear long sleeve shirts underneath and it's still not too tight.
I think I've worn this jacket almost every day since I got it....hiking, fishing, biking. It layered great under my insulated jacket for lake fishing today, and even alone it cuts down on the wind SO well! I've also layered it under my rain jacket, which has been a perfect combo for our up & down weather here in Nevada.
I do wish it were a little longer in the back only, which I mainly only notice when sitting. If you have a long torso, I'm not sure if it would be long enough....not sure.....
Otherwise, LOVE!

One of the absolute best features of the women's Windwall 2 was the sleeve pocket. It seems that they have removed this incredibly useful feature. Why would they remove something that set this item apart from every other jacket I've seen?

Since you can't edit reviews, I am simply rereviewing this item. It loses a star since they've removed functionality.

I've had the origional Windwall hoodie for about 6 years now, and I wear it almost daily. I had to breakdown and buy a new one because the old one was finally wearing out in some spots. This Windwall 2 is pretty much the same jacket with a few tweaks. The Windwall 2 has more of a "fitted" fit to it than the old one, which was nice and baggy so I could wear layers underneath. The sleaves on the new one are a bit longer which is good, and the wrist opening is slightly bigger, which I like because with my old one I could never push up the sleeves very far when I needed to get my hands dirty. I think the size of neck opening is better, with my old one I could never put the hood up without unzipping it a few inches, but this new one is a bit bigger and I can put the hood up and down easily. I read one negative review about the chest pocket, which made me unsure about buying this new one, but it seems perfectly fine. It's not bulky or in the way like I thought it would be. So far I'm liking my new Windwall 2 and I hope it holds up as good as my old one.

I love this jacket. The best feature is the arm pocket (low on the left arm, not too far from the wrist). I know that sounds like a strange thing to lead off with, but that pocket is so incredibly functional. ID, credit card, cash, etc. all in one convenient place. I've never owned anything that has gotten more impressed comments from strangers than the arm pocket on this jacket.

The fit is great. It doesn't look bulky if it's my only outer layer, but it is still spacious enough to fit other long sleeved layers on underneath if I need it.

I love the hood. It not only looks good, but it can be quite helpful when you want head covering and don't have a hat.

My only complaint is that some of the stitching for this band of fabric around the neck has come out. The jacket still looks the same from the outside, and the problem hasn't affected the functionality, so I haven't even bothered to stitch it back up myself. However, if you are paying Northface prices, you expect a little better quality.
