Comments about REI Airflyte Running Jacket with eVent Fabric - Men's:
What an amazing jacket! I run 1/2 marathons with some road and mountain biking mixed in. I was shopping around to replace my 15yr old Gore-Tex no-name brand jacket. I considered the Brooks Nightlife and Mountain Hardware Stimulus, both were lighterweight, esp the MH Stimulus which felt like I was wearing a trash bag. This jacket blows me away every time, from 20 degrees w/ wind to 50 degrees on the bike...all I have to consider is the base layer shirt.
The stretch panels are perfect, and build quality is top notch. It's amazing how something so lightweight keeps you warm and dry.
I did try on the biking version of the same eVent material, and it was cut very differently. It was only comfortable in the saddle position and would not work for running. However, this running version works well for both. I am 5'9" 145lb and typically fall between Sm and Med and don't like form or loose fit, I went with a Med and it fits perfectly, not too loose, not too tight.
Bottom Line: This is a piece of gear that motivates you to get out and put it to the test every time. Worth every penny despite the price tag (although I bought last year's model on close-out for 50% off).

Comments about REI Airflyte Running Jacket with eVent Fabric - Men's:
In the 40's I wear it with a T-shirt. In the 20's & drizzle I've worn it with a long-sleeve dry-fit type shirt. Makes running in cold/wind/damp much more pleasant.
I'm 6'4", 200 lbs, wear a 42" coat and 36" waist. Was really boarder-line between large & XL. I went with the large since I'll be using it primarily for running. Torso and sleeve length are good (might be long for some). Wearing with more than a t-shirt and sweatshirt/fleece would make it too snug. If I was using it primarily for hiking, I would have gone with the XL, but I don't have a need for much insulation when I'm running (temps here rarely go into the teens).
There's a good amount of reflective trim. The hand pockets are roomy and can accommodate a hat or gloves when you no longer need 'em.
I can't address durability since I've only had it month, but the workmanship seems good.

Comments about REI Airflyte Running Jacket with eVent Fabric - Men's:
Just went for a run in 27 degrees and drizzle. All I wore was a Nike Dri-fit t-shirt and full length Nike running tights and this jacket. Not only was I not cold, but I was not hot. This thing breathes great, allowed me to sweat but not get hot. If you run you understand. The money is alot but it is worth every penny. Think of all the pieces you won't have to buy because of this jacket. Do it, you won't be disappointed.

I have run in this 3-4 days a week for the past 2 months. I've run in 30-40 degrees with 20-30 mph and it has completely blocked the wind, yet breathable enough to prevent overheating.

Comments about REI Airflyte Running Jacket with eVent Fabric - Men's:
I am so glad I found this jacket. The E-Vent material is perfect for runners. It has kept me dry and comfortable during wet and rainy 18-20 mile runs in the 50's. I tried it recently during snowy and freezing temps in the high teens, with just a long sleeve poly-pro underneath. Truthfully, I was expecting to freeze, but I wanted to test it anyway. I couldn't believe how warm and dry I stayed. This is a must have jacket for runners looking for a jacktet to keep them dry and warm during adverse weather conditions.

Comments about REI Airflyte Running Jacket with eVent Fabric - Men's:
I don't usually review products, but my experience with the Airflyte jacket is so different from these glowing reviews that I have to weigh in. Used this for moderate runs several times in light and heavier rain in 40-50 degree weather (typical Seattle conditions October-May), with a light base layer. I got so hot and sweaty--even with zipper open to vent-- that I just took it off and ran in base layer--getting soaked. Also wore it to watch a soccer game in steady rain, and after half an hour my sides started getting wet from water dripping through the stretch side panels. I saw reviewers with similar experience when I bought it, but these seem to have been removed!

Comments about REI Airflyte Running Jacket with eVent Fabric - Men's:
I guess I expected too much from this jacket. I've run three days in it - all in low 40s temp with a very light long sleeve poly shirt underneath. Two of the days it was raining and the third day it was dry. The jacket is apparently waterproof, but it does not breath enough to keep moisture from condensing and soaking my base layer. After 20 minutes I was soaked underneath, which made the rest of the run uncomfortable, compared to just running in poly shirt and jacket, in which I stay dry if the weather is dry.
I got this for rain and it does keep the rain out, but if I get soaked inside from condensation what's the point? On cold dry days I can dress with light poly jacket and stay dry, which I can't do with this jacket.
I'm returning it. Sorry REI the quality is fine it just does not do what I expected it to do.

Comments about REI Airflyte Running Jacket with eVent Fabric - Men's:
This is a *really* well designed jacket. It is made for wet weather aerobic acitivities in mind, with a a slim fit in areas that catch the wind or would let water in (neck, sleeves, waste). Hard to immagine a better designed jacket for wet weather running.

Comments about REI Airflyte Running Jacket with eVent Fabric - Men's:
My first run with this jacket was at 6,000 feet in the desert Southwest; the temperature was 16 degrees. Underneath I had an Underarmor cold weather mock tee. No wind. I felt a bit cool the first 10 minutes or so, then fine for the rest of the run. My most recent run was in the forests of Virginia where the temperature was 26 degrees with a slight wind. Again, it was a bit cool at first then it was perfectly comfortable. At the end of both runs, I noticed sweat escaping from the outside of this jacket-- so it breathed as designed. Overall, this is the best running jacket I've ever used. I highly recommend it.

I bought this to run in. And this is a great jacket for that nasty weather run. I love it. I've used it on distances of 3-4 miles all the way up to 18 mile training runs and it keeps me comfortable. Highly recommended...
