The synthetic REI Zen regular sleeping bag balances price and performance. Light, compressible insulation and unique construction work together to maximize warmth when the temperature dips.
- REI-exclusive Z-Baffle construction combines 2 insulations that together maximize heat retention far more efficiently than a single insulation
- Synthetic polyester fill retains insulating properties even when wet
- Equally distributed insulation accommodates the multi-position sleeper; mummy shape is thermally efficient, yet roomy enough from shoulder to knee to ensure sleeping comfort

You cannot get a better bag at this price. Again, there are a lot of new sleeping bags out there but this is perfect for any sort of camping, hiking, or backpacking you're doing (unless you're doing something mid-winter season). I just think that you could save $60-100 getting this and you're going to get just as good of quality bag as you would as opposed to this years' models. It's not as if they've re-written the technology on sleeping bags from last year. Trust me...save yourself some money and get this - it's perfect.On my 4 day hike in the AT, it got down to about 28 degrees at night and I was in a tent for one night and an open faced shelter the other night. Both nights I was unbelievably warm and ended up even removing layers. I also used this at one point when it was freezing and we had taken a few hours break at a shelter. I simply sat down with the bag wrapped around my shoulders and body and it encapsulated me enough so that I could build body warmth to warm up. It easily has multiple uses and stays dry and clean.I used this with the Big Agnes 2.5 inch manual inflation pad and they worked great together. Total price for both items right now is around [$] - can't beat that.

In full disclosure, I've not yet used this bag. I just picked it up and these are strictly my initial observations.
Overall quality is very good. It's what I've come to expect from REI equipment. The zipper runs smoothly and I like all of the features that this bag has. THIS BAG IS "EN" RATED, it's not listed on the description but it came with a tag that confirms it.
It's very comfortable and gives me plenty or room. I plan on using this for late spring to mid fall canoe and hiking trips.
The only downsides to this bag that I can see, and I new it when I purchased it, is that it's heavier and bulkier than I'd like, but for the price I really can't complain. It will however compress to at least half the size of the provided stuff sack if you use a compression sack.

I am a 5'10'' female and female specific bags are too short in the regular length and too long in the long. This bag fits me perfectly. We usually camp in the Rocky Mountains and I have used this bag several times in temperatures down in the lower 30's. I get cold really easily, but I have stayed warm in this bag consistently. Granted, I wear Capline 3 pants, wool socks, and a long sleeve shirt. My pad is a 2.5'' air core pad and I stay perfectly warm in this bag. I love that there is a slip on the inside for a pillow, not on the outside of the bag like my husbands. Only con, I wish it packed down smaller.

I use a sleeping bag on my bed because I find it comfy in my cold house, so I wanted one that looks nice. Comparing the real item with the photo on this website, the light blue is dull and dark and matches the dark blue in the picture, and the dark blue is an almost black navy. Where's the "atomic" bright blue?
