Comments about ALPS Mountaineering Osage 3-Room Tent - Special Buy:

I've used this tent in the rain and snow, it seems to hold up just fine. though it is a bit large for under 4 people, it makes a nice base camp to keep gear organized with plenty of space to stretch. its pretty easy to set up, but two people are needed. wind seemed like it might be an issue (15mph+) but it still held up. its not as well made as other tents this size but it seems good enough for me, i dont think you cant beat the price

Comments about ALPS Mountaineering Osage 3-Room Tent - Special Buy:

This is a terrible tent. I used it twice for family camping trips. Once during a dry weekend and once during a rainy week. In both cases, I had water in the tent. Condensation formed beneath the sleeping areas during the dry weekend and pools of water formed beneath all 3 entrances to the tent during the rainy trip! This is not worth buying. [...].I highly recommend you choose another brand of tent, unless you enjoy bailing water out of your tent and drying out your gear.

Comments about ALPS Mountaineering Osage 3-Room Tent - Special Buy:

I bought this for our one week vacation next week on the Cape. Knowing it will likely rain - being waterproofed was the most important thing. i set it up in my back yard yesterday and seam sealed along the bottom and at the apex (I ran out after 2 tubes...). It started POURING 3 hours ago and I went in the tent to check it out and it is POURING in the tent through the zippers of the 2 side doors. You can't seam seal the zipper track (or it won't open) so now I'm stuck with a completely unusable tent. If you are camping in a dry area then this tent is great due to its size but...

Comments about ALPS Mountaineering Osage 3-Room Tent - Special Buy:

This is really roomy tent. I bought it for my family of five and we can really spread out in it with all our gear. It is pretty easy to put together. Two people can put it up within 10 minutes. The tent works pretty good when it's dry. However, during a downpour water started leaking in through the zippers and coming in through the floor seams. We woke to find ourselves surrounded by water with everything soaked. It's too bad this tent did not perform well in inclement weather.

Comments about ALPS Mountaineering Osage 3-Room Tent - Special Buy:

First round of this tent went OK. I loved the screen mesh everywhere - when the fly is off you can feel like you are outdoors without the bugs! Three doors is fantastic and windows all around is great. I loved the windows in the rainfly too so you can see the sky even with the fly on.

That tent had seams begin to pull apart after two uses. I returned to REI to get it repaired and they offered to replace it. I accepted.

Next tent, the toggles were sewn in the wrong places to use the interior dividers, but that didn't really bother me. However, next time out, it rained and we had dripping at various places inside. After moving and moving again, I went to the car.

This spring (3rd use of second tent?) went to use it in the yard, and found the fiberglass poles are cracking and almost unusable.

Sigh - love the shape and the mesh (although sometimes hard to find a tent pad big enough for it) and the size (family of 5 and all our gear still has PLENTY of room). BUT, if I have to sleep in the car during a regular rain and replace poles twice a year, it's not worth the headache. Gonna try to figure out how to take it back and what to get instead.

Comments about ALPS Mountaineering Osage 3-Room Tent - Special Buy:

The tent looks roomy and comfy, we liked the head room and the fact that it was on clearance, so we thought we were getting a great deal. The first night we had wind with light rain, woke up to puddles all around. Delightful. (not!) Second night the wind was a bit stronger and the I noticed that the zipper seam was coming apart (no strain, we did everything right, it's not our first time. by the end of our camping trip, there was a huge gaping hole above the main doorway, the seams had come apart completely. Utter disappointment, we decided that shopping clearance sales for a tent is unwise, you get what you pay for. Currently we have a Big Agnes Diamond 6 and a Kelty lounge 6 that are perfect! Big difference!

Comments about ALPS Mountaineering Osage 3-Room Tent - Special Buy:

I really tried to like this tent. We are a family of 5 with a couple of medium sized dogs. The tent was a great size but when it leaks it ruins the adventure. This is actually the 2nd Osage 3 room tent I have purchased. Both of the tents ended up being returned because of a leaky fly. The most recent trip we had about 6 hours of rain. Nothing too intense but steady. Luckily it was during the day and we could easily move gear to avoid the drips from the ceiling. Since the tent ceiling is mesh the leak must have originated from the fly.

On the pro side, the tent is very large and provided a great setup for my family. We had a queen air matress, twin air matress and 2 smaller air beds (kiddie style). There was still plenty of room for the dogs, bags and shoes.

If you can count on good weather then this tent is great. If it rains be ready to adjust your sleeping arrangements.

I will give Alps Mountaineering one more try and have ordered the Meramac 3 room tent. It is the same base as the Osage, but with a larger fly. Hopefully this will eliminate the leaking issue.

Comments about ALPS Mountaineering Osage 3-Room Tent - Special Buy:

We set out with our bikes, Labrador and dog trailer to camp next to a lake and ride on some great bike paths.
We had the possibility of rain, and boy did it rain. We camped two days and decided to head back home after having to bail out buckets of water. We ended up spending the rest of our vacation at home!

Very disappointed in the quality of the tent. If there is a chance of rain.. better purchase another tent!

Comments about ALPS Mountaineering Osage 3-Room Tent - Special Buy:

This tent would be perfect if it didn't leak at the two side doors as mentioned in other reviews. I love everything about the tent except the inadequate rainfly and the leaks at the zippers. I just ordered the Meramac that has an improved fly and is only a $25 difference from what I paid for the Osage. I strongly caution against purchasing this tent if there is any chance of extended periods of rain in your area. We camp in the Shenandoah and it rains often.
