Comments about ALPS Mountaineering Meramac 6 Tent - Special Buy:
It's not a bad tent. Definitely for summer use only. Not made of the highest quality materials but for its size, the price is right. Fits myself and my girlfriend, all of our stuff, a queen sized air mattress and two large dogs quite nicely. For serious camping though, we have a different, much higher quality tent.

Comments about ALPS Mountaineering Meramac 6 Tent - Special Buy:
The tent is not very high quality. Its okay quality but I was not impressed with the materials. The worst part is the wall design. The wind goes right through the walls. If you are going to encounter a cold night this is NOT the tent you want. The pro is that like all 2 pole tents it is easy to setup. Side note: Parts were also missing from the tent. I had to get rope for the rain fly.

Comments about ALPS Mountaineering Meramac 6 Tent - Special Buy:
My husband and I camped around the Big Island of Hawaii recently in the 4-man version of this tent through a few real windy and rainy nights. It stayed dry and in place. It's so easy to set up. Also it's so light even I can pick it up and shake out any dirt.

Comments about ALPS Mountaineering Meramac 6 Tent - Special Buy:
First camp trip of the year was literally a wash. The wife and I are avid backpackers. We have tackled adventures in the Yukon, Alaska, Glacier NP and Patagonia. The addition of children has compromised our backcountry adventures a bit, but we still enjoy a car camp and light hikes with the kids. With a bigger crew, we recently bought a bigger tent. Our decision was made on size and price. The ALPS Mountaineering Meramac Tent fit the bill and was purchased from REI-Outlet.
In the Pacific Northwest, if you camp you are going get wet. Especially early in the season. Heading over the Chinook Pass through Mt Rainier NP, we found the Little Naches campground in Wenatchee National Forest. Great campground. Clean and large camp areas. Plenty of space for multiple vehicles at each camp area as well. Basically good for families. The Naches area of Wenatchee National Forest is gorgeous. A different feel from the wet side of the pass. More pine trees than fir. The rivers were full of runoff and the lupine was beginning to flower. The weather, however, was bi-polar: Warm and sunny or heavy rain and thunderstorms. The latter are fairly rare in the PNW. The ALPS Mountaineering tent was incredible in the weather and would highly recommend it. Totally dry through not one, but two thunderstorms. Study too. Not a second thought to throw the kids in the tent and listen to the wind and rain. The count between lightening and thunder with the kids was priceless. ALPS Mountaineering is not a brand name by any means, but then, Mother Nature does not care what logo is on the side of your tent.

Comments about ALPS Mountaineering Meramac 6 Tent - Special Buy:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend... with caveats. Mine has leaked (small leaks) since day one. Thanks to a heavy downpour, I finally tracked the leaks to the seam between the bathtub floors and side walls as well as the zipper stitching. The floor, fly and stake-outs had already been seam sealed. It has stood up to some significant wind despite being blown around.
Poles cracked in one storm that knocked down nearby trees which I can accept for a inexpensive 6-man tent. When called about the leaks and cracked poles, ALPS mountaineering service was good.
I can recommend for any camping where a secondary structure (home, car, cabin) is available. Buy some seam sealer too.
