Comments about ALPS Mountaineering Triton 2.0 Tent - Special Buy:
I bought this tent for some Scouts to use backpacking. This tent is way lighter than the 7x7 Colemans they usually carry. I love the double door and double vestibule. The big fly allows the boys to store their gear outside their tent and stay dry. They have less stuff in the tent so the tent will last longer.
There is no other tent in this price range (Its always on sale for around $130 somewhere) that is 5 lbs, has this room, aluminum poles and double doors and vestibules.
The Kelty Corrie? nope $200 and no side doors (it is lighter though). Teton 2? It is $150 and lighter, but only has 1 door.
REI Campdome?, Heavier and No Vestibule
REI Halfdome? More Expensive ,Heavier, single door.
Marmot Limelight, same weight, but only 1 door.
Overall this is one great tent for Scouting.

Comments about ALPS Mountaineering Triton 2.0 Tent - Special Buy:
I feel like i must have stole this tent from REI. The price was so low i had to do a double take and make sure i wasn't reading it wrong. I got some advice from a few friends and they said "Go with Kelty, GoLite or Marmot". Well i didn;t take their advice and went with this ALPS mountaineering tent. It is super light weight and sinches down to less than what they advertise for sure! Great product and I would recommend buying it.

Comments about ALPS Mountaineering Triton 2.0 Tent - Special Buy:
I own and used this tent last year during a 14 day 350 mile canoe trip. Being the cook for a nine person crew I was allowed to have my own tent and not have to share with the guys in the "mens" tent. I choose this one mostly due to the price and weight. I am so happy with this tent. It is a 2 person tent if you are friendly, but works very well as a one person, two doors with vestibules a HUGE plus. No problems with any type of weather, set up and take down fast and easy...for those who wanted a free standing tent you should do your homework. I set this tent up in the BWCA in all sorts of rocky soil and had no problems getting a good grip with the stakes and creative use of rope. After the 14 days in and out of the canoe, setting up camp, cooking, and getting back out on the water by 6:00 am the next day this tent more then filled my expectations. I would recommend this tent gladly.

Comments about ALPS Mountaineering Triton 2.0 Tent - Special Buy:
I bought this tent three or four years ago to replace a Flashlight, I wanted a lightweight backpacking tent. The price is great, a good sturdy tent. Last weekend I found the tent sitting in a pool of water -bad tent placement on my part- after a hailstorm in the Montana Rockies. Everything in the tent was dry. Picked up the tent moved it to a dry spot and got into it.
The fly has the same problem as the Flashlight had, open the flaps and the rain comes in. But it's roomier and I like the netting. I've used it backpacking and car camping.
I wish it were freestanding, the stakes are very good though, why doesn't everyone supply stakes like these?
At 4-5 pounds its a little on the heavy side for me, (small female) but so far worth it.

Comments about ALPS Mountaineering Triton 2.0 Tent - Special Buy:
I use it to go backpacking and it is light weight, sets up quick, keeps dry in the tent. We never have a problem with collapsing. Its mostly mesh, except for the rainfly, with two openings on both sides of the tent so its easy to get out without crawling over the other person. I don't think its too small for two people and fits a lot of gear at the foot and head of the tent as well as under the rainfly.

Comments about ALPS Mountaineering Triton 2.0 Tent - Special Buy:
I love this tent, and the price makes it all the better. We have used it in all seasons (got snowed on in Colorado and did great). My biggest complaint is the fly, its plenty water-proof but the way that it zips from the bottom allows water to get your stuff wet when its raining and you open the fly. Other wise it sets up easy (know your terrain b/c you need good dirt to keep this tent up) light weight, and versatile. you cant get a better tent for the money.

Comments about ALPS Mountaineering Triton 2.0 Tent - Special Buy:
My Triton 2 went through its first rainstorm the other night; held up great. With the footprint, (which is sold separately, but at a great price) I was completely dry the next morning. The rain seems to be unusually loud hitting this tent, but that is easily remedied with a pair of earplugs.
There are not many people I know who prefer non-freestanding tents, but this one is great, especially for its price. I got many of the same features as the REI halfdome, while shaving off some packing size and weight and significantly cutting the cost. Great for backpacking.
IF you like your space at night, I'd go for a roomier tent; If you lie two thermorests by each other, the feet will overlap some, but there's enough room at the head. You can even fit some gear in at the head of the tent if you don't want to use the vestibules.

Comments about ALPS Mountaineering Triton 2.0 Tent - Special Buy:
You can not go wrong with this tent as long as you are one of those people who buy brand names only marmot leaks and weighs the same with only one door. My only wish is that it was free standing there fore i dont recomend it for set up on rocks unless you are creative with rope. But hey who likes sleeping on rocks any how?

Comments about ALPS Mountaineering Triton 2.0 Tent - Special Buy:
This is the best backpacking tent for the price I've found. There are few tents with two vestibules, two doors and enough livable room for two backpackers at the 5 lb point, none at this price.
My son and I each have older versions of this tent (more fabric and less mesh, same design), and between us we have maybe 80-100 nights out in the Sierra and in New England.
Roof sag is corrected by staking properly. Non free standing/free standing is no big deal unless you are on solid rock or concrete.
The ALPS gets 4 stars only because with gray hair and older knees, I am migrating to more lightweight gear. My new MSR carbon reflex 2 tent is 5 stars; 2 lbs lighter, somewhat snugger, but $400 more.
Considering value for money, this ALPS tent is 5 stars!

Comments about ALPS Mountaineering Triton 2.0 Tent - Special Buy:
This tent worked out extremely well for me. I first had the one person tent and at 6'02, 225lbs wanted some more room. This tent fit me very well for a large frame. Plenty of room to move around and with two zippers I had a lot of versatility. I go on weekend trips with scouts and still had room to change inside the tent. The fly covered all my gear and even had room to store my boots inside.
