Comments about Black Diamond Contact Strap Crampons with ABS Plates:
I found these crampons to be easy to fit and adjust. They stayed on well in deep snow and fit my boots great.

Comments about Black Diamond Contact Strap Crampons with ABS Plates:
I used these to summit Mt. St. Helens on June 21, 2012. I have a size 11 Danner Crater Rim Boot and I had to buy the Long bars because they did not even come close to fitting - even though it claims to fit up to size 12.
The crampons were simple to put on and easy to adjust. They look great. The right crampon toe piece did not stay put on my pair. It kept coming loose and moving forward even though it was still "locked" in by the bar. It made for a frustrating summit. Glad I had some rope. Defective and being returned. My confidence in Black Diamond has been shaken a bit and Im not sure if I will get the same brand/kind.
My climbing partner had the same style/brand crampons on Danner Lite II, size 13B. His performed well, but he said his toes went numb after cinching down the straps to necessary tightness for proper operation, and that they were heavy. He's considering returning them for a "lighter" pair.

Comments about Black Diamond Contact Strap Crampons with ABS Plates:
These are the best crampons that I have used. You need to be careful using these since you can easily forget that you are wearing crampons in the first place. I have used these on very steep couloirs on compacted snow and ice and they are flawless in every sense. The stainless steel design and ABS plates keep the snow from piling up and slowing you down. They say that crampons slow you down 10% that is not the case with these for they actually make you move quicker even over soft snow. Black Diamond has done it again!

Comments about Black Diamond Contact Strap Crampons with ABS Plates:
Strap is too long once the crampon is adjusted.
Very easy to store, carry and adjust.
Feels a bit narrow on the lower side (heel).
Great value for money.

For those of you like myself cursed with big feet, here is a photo of the crampons WITH THE LONG CENTER BAR on size 15 plastic mountain boots. The bar still had a couple of holes left.

Comments about Black Diamond Contact Strap Crampons with ABS Plates:
I bought these for my first trip to Shasta for attachment to a pair of stout hiking boots. The crampons pack up tight and take up little space on my gear. They are steel so weight could be an issue for some, but I like the durability of steel vs aluminum. Easy to put on and take off. Traction is superb but I'd purchase a different pair for ice climbing. Durability seems ok, but I'm concerned that the way the strap runs through the toe cap, it may wear through or crack over time.

Comments about Black Diamond Contact Strap Crampons with ABS Plates:
I am not a great fan of crampons. I seem more likely to go to either microspikes or snowshoes. But there have been a number of occasions where crampons have been invaluable, and it is hard to find better value for the money. They are light, easy to adjust and get on in a hurry.

Comments about Black Diamond Contact Strap Crampons with ABS Plates:
The chart indicated that 10.5 shoe size would work for this without the purchase of the extender bar for an additional $20 or so. It doesn't fit. Even if it did fit, the heel has the strap connecting to a metal bracket sticking UP which will contact the boot heel and destroy or damage it. I don't see how this crampon design will work at all. I'm disappointed and will return the product and buy the more expensive model. Quality appears good just the design is bad.

I've used the crampons on the Presidentail Range from Mount Monroe to Madison in varying snow and ice conditions above treeline and these worked great as the crampons really bit into the snow. The crampons fit well on my regualar and bigger winter hiking boots.

Just used these on a Mt Rainier climb. Wish all my gear was as good as these crampons. Light weight, good grip, easy to fit on the boots. Just awesome. Cannot beat them for the price.
